Some airlines now charging for pillows and Blankets

I was was watching KIRO news out of Seattle Washington last night and they did a story on how some of the airlines are now charging for pillows and blankets during your flight.

This article is in regards to Jet Blue but it was said other lines are following along.

Ya, saw this on CNN the other day.

Only to be expected I suppose, considering that they're trying to squeeze every last buck out of the passenger, for every last item.

I'd like to know if they're going to start charging for the peanuts and three mouthfuls of soda that you get. I recall reading an article that said that the whole point of giving out the peanuts and soda is to stop people from tossing their lunch while they're in the air. Apparently, it's cheaper to hand out the peanuts/soda than it is to clean up the 'remains'.

There's also another report today on CNN that Delta is going to start offering Wi-Fi to their passengers by next summer. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they're going to really charge for that service.

I saw this on the news. I've never neede them. Dh does when he travels internationally but he'll probably just pay the $7.

I think it's US Air that is going to charge $1 for coffee/tea, $2 for a pop.

Oddly enough, I'd probably pay this for drinks for both of us. We normally make an effort to have 'something' to drink or at least hard candies (or something similiar) because I always have a dry throat by the time we get there.

I'm pretty sure we'd both pass on the blankie and pillow and the wi-fi.

Air Canada has been charging for pillows for a few years now, except if you are in First Class.

Other carriers have always charged for headsets.

It's nothing new. Gone are the days of full meal service, and kiddie trays.

Perhaps this is why I didn't see any pillows or blankets during my flights to Disney last fall.
