Some advice needed...

Well, I guess "advice" isn't really the right word, but I don't know what else to say. This thread is similar to the one Llama posted on the VMK Community Board earlier (which is an odd coincidence) but I didn't want to hijack his thread, so I'm posting my own.

I figured I'd be the last person to say this, but I'm slowly losing interest in VMK. No, this is not an "I'm Leaving" thread, because I have no intention of leaving, but I'm pretty frustrated at the moment and I just needed to complain (and most of it is my own fault, not VMK's).

Basically, here's what's causing me to lose interest: First of all, starting last week, I've had to work new hours at work. These new hours have cut my VMK playing time down to about 2 hours a day on weekdays (if I don't want to end up sleep deprived). As I'm sure you all realize, 2 hours a day = not many credits a day. Add to that the crashing in fireworks, HORRIBLE lag in mansion, and lack of skill in pirates, and that means even fewer credits. Then comes the weekend, when I have almost all day to play. But, of course, so does everyone else which causes the mansion game to be full... all day. I can get into maybe three games an hour and in those games, I can pull in about 350 credits thanks to even worse lag than on the weekdays. So all this adds up to a very slow building up of my VMK bank account. Much slower than the speed of VMK releasing items. Most of the items, especially the gingerbread pieces, are cheap, but it adds up when you're buying them in bulk. I used to be able to earn back what I spent pretty quickly, but not anymore. It now feels like I'm being left in the dust and I'm just becoming discouraged.

I'm sure if we have a lack of items in January, my interest will come back as my VMK credits start to build back up, but right now I'm almost to the point of pulling my hair out. Does anyone have any words of wisdom they can say to keep me from continuing to lose interest?

i do know how you feel. in order to get credits i sold my inferno but i truly look forward to fridays and i do wish i could tell you how to feel better about playing... i am usuually available for a game. might even let ya win a round or two . while this is my first xmas on VMK and i look forward to each new item i do get distracted by football. idk if this has helped but i do hope to get in a game with you

If everything was "easy" to obtain then we would all be bored and there would be no VMK. I symphasis with you though. Earlier this year my daughter and two grand kids moved in with us form another state. I had barely an hour a day left for VMK so I was at a serious credit deficit. I decided then its ok not to "own" everything.

I can remember when the game first started pirates paid 15 credits and jungle cruise paid 20 credits and I dont know if fireworks paod because I could nt win anything there anyway. It was very difficult to buy those early Beta items. Then the game released and still very few credits. I remember spending every single credit except I think 5 credits just to get the space suit, thats one space suit, not multiples like we all seem to get today when things release. That was frustrating!!

About the lag. We all hate it. But you know we all live in it. So the trick is to learn to do the lag better then the other guy. I use to be terrible at pirates and learned to get good at it then lag started and i learned it all over again. Now im learning Mansion lag. Its a whole new game out there.

Hang in there and come when you can, Heavens sake dont sacrifice sleep for pixels and its ok not to "own" it all. Make the game what you can make it for you.

I play VMK less than 2 hours a day. I bet most days I am not in there 1 hour. You just need to stop using your credits to buy your trades and do the opposite, sell your stuff for credits.

I visit my friends for a little bit, I visit the hosts (always when the room opens, to save time). Then I get back to work over here LOL.

Lately have been playing some fireworks, but its because I am focused on finally putting energy into the green car quest, not after the credits.

Not sure your schedule, but if you could see my bff Host_Phinny on saturday mornings, the pin you score there should net you enough credits to buy new stuff that comes out.

You'd be surprised how quickly those "lateral credits" (as I like to call them) build up after a few days of everybody visiting the npcs and playing/remixing their mixes. Early in the game, this was my only way besides nedding to accumulate credits before I learned to play Pirates.

It takes a little time to do this, and patience to transfer items between characters, but it can really make a difference.

Yep. While sea tea has quite a few credits, her credits would be completely depleted if it wasn't for all my other characters credits. If I only get the NPC's & the music games a couple of times a week per character, that still adds up for me and my 20 characters. Plus, I make sure to do the Hosts Q button quests and try to get all of them through. I made 10K in 3 hrs Sunday morning with the 500 credit prize.

It's when you play Jungle Cruise and just let your boat crash (or actively crash it). Since it gives you 20 credits per game no matter how well you do, you can pretty much just let it run in the background while you do other stuff.

I actually do this most days while I'm at work. As soon as VMK opens, I go get my NPC credits, then I start "Nedding" my character. I check every so often to see if the game has gone through a cycle, start it over again if it has, minimize the window and go about my business. Because of the nature of my job, it doesn't affect my work at all, and I can easily pull in at least several hundred credits a day just by nedding. Not much when you think of what a single game of mansion can do, but it definitely helps!

I don't have horrible lag in mansion, which I feel very fortunate about, but on weekends I have to wait up to half an hour to even get into the game! The mansion lobby is almost always full these days ever since Halloween month. I have difficulty obtaining credit also as my education takes up most of my time. My recommendations for vmk:
1. Make the mansion game have a bigger capacity but more importantly fix the lag.
2. Make the Jungle Cruise game award credits like the fireworks game to relieve stress on the other games.

Yes, VMK please lower the prices to reasonable amount!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do have lives outside of VMK. Frankly I'm losing my interest too because I just don't have all day long to make credits to buy the things I want.

Grab a friend and play lazy mansion...
what is lazy mansion you ask?
each of you stand next to the same coffin and just keep hitting CTRL
you each will turn and you will have an obcene amount of "Ghosts" after the round even though you don't get credit from spraying a friend..
you can do this on any level that has a coffin blocked on 2 sides.
it works good on very laggy days and you dont have to run around.
you will get on average about 750 per game.
Also..player quests! play all the little player quests, if you dont get credits, you can get something you can sell or trade!

Sometimes I make my husband play for me. He played a lot on Saturday while I did my Christmas baking. Beleive me it's not hard to convince him to sit down and play computer games hehe.

I don't have any really wise wisdom since I'm relatively new to VMK, but I can sure sympathize.

There are so many cool items out, and I'm not great at ANY of the games. I'm "OK" at mansion, but the lag IS bad. (And I don't have many friends to do "lazy mansion" as mentioned above, nor did I even KNOW about that LOL)

I feel like I'm catching ghosts in my sleep, I've played so many mansion games the last few weeks, though, because I *finally* finished my first room!! (fantasyland christmas, in case anyone cares to visit). It's not as cool as gingerbread train station or the others I've seen, but I'm proud of it since it's my first.

Anyway, I feel for you, and I think a lot of us feel the same way, whether we are new or "seasoned" vmk members.

Hang in there, though...it's worth it for the cool new items.

I'm relatively new (June 2007), but I'm already starting to tire of VMK. All of the rare stuff is impossible for me to obtain, since anything I possess is of no interest to anyone. I'm figuring it will take a couple of years before anything I've acquired in the last 6 months to become desirable.

I've played consistently a couple of hours each day. More time on the weekends of course. So adding that up, I've spent at least 500 hours on VMK!

I read here that people spent 6+ hours each day, all day some weekends. I realize you may be at work, playing it in the background, but you are still aware of your "time" there. VMK sounds like a full time job to some of you.

To each their own, but I feel there is an opportunity to approach VMK differently for a newbie like me. I can either obsess over getting everything, or I can just get the stuff I like. I've decided not to sacrifice other things in my life for more imaginary credits. If I wanted to work that hard I'd get a paying job.

Now I just on in the morning and play some Mansion before the game gets full. I may stop by in the afternoon while I'm in the kitchen cooking.

I can't help but wonder about the future of VMK now that there are no in park areas or quests. I am starting to see my time on VMK as a investment almost, what if it was closed or changed to a subscription? If we aren't having fun, what are we really getting out of it? We are just being blasted by Disney advertising. (I'm a Disneyoholic, so I don't mind, but...)

I can understand that veterans are concerned about holding their positions in the game, but for newbies like me, there is no advantage for hours/days of play.

I spend my time building rooms. I put all my characters through the host quests. And use them for building buying power. I also play them in mansion.

Before royal and Christmas my many characters had over 10,000 each. Most still have 5,000. So those host quests do add up. Also I will sometimes only play mansion for an entire weekend say once a month and gain a ton of credits so I can build some more.

And when I do not have the time to play I sell stuff. Sometimes I am really keen on VMK some times I go days with out logging in.

I think after the ride competition I never thought the same of VMK so it cured my addiction And now I just play for fun. Nothing like spending over 100,000 in credits to cure that.

Not trying to get the really rare items or I win best guest room or quest. Because since day one never happened and probably never will. So instead of constantly be disappointed I just enjoy all the cool new stuff there is.

When I get really bored I go out on Main street and find new players and gift them. That makes VMK seem so special sharing the pixie dust. She they are new A tree house of one of the many ride a thon items means a lot to them.

So try a different approach. Check out all the cool christmas rooms people have built, do a players quest. And hang out with friends.

I don't know if this has been brought up or not but here goes. Ignore if this is a duplicate. I tried "Nedding" this afternoon after reading this last night. The problem is that you just can let it run in background. If you do, you get a click on message that asks you if you want to exit the game. So you have to keep going back to it. All this for 20 credits.

Unless there is a way you can leave it run without having to click every so often to keep it going.

I'm not really losing interest, but i am losing time. It is difficult for me to get time on. But on another topic, What exactly is happening when lag occurrs in mansion or pirates. I know when there are alot of players playing aforementioned games there is lag, but what technically is happening? Aengus? Qruthie? If there are that many ppl on vmk to create lag, why isn't there lag like that ALL over vmk?

The problem is that you just can let it run in background. If you do, you get a click on message that asks you if you want to exit the game. So you have to keep going back to it. All this for 20 credits.

Unless there is a way you can leave it run without having to click every so often to keep it going.

Quite often at the end of the game and I've got the credits, I get that message about exiting, but as I am already at the end of the game I guess it must not matter. Sooo .. don't worry about clicking on the message the game will still run.
