I have never been to Disney before other then Paris and thinking about taking a solo trip next year to WDW. Just after some advice about the cheapest way to do it, best time of year things like that.

Also want to avoid school holidays as best as possible.

I must be mad as i have never traveled anywere abroad alone!! but going alone is probably the only way ill ever get to go, as iv been waiting for my parents to say we are going for years.

Sorry I can't offer more help, other than to say 'Good for you!'.

I admire your determination.

I'm fairly sure that I've seen posts from other people who've done solo trips - so I'm sure someone will be along to offer help and advice.

september is a nice time to go as americans really don't like to take their kids out of school at the beginning of the school year and there are no school holidays at that time..
so the parks are pretty quiet.....

my only suggestion would be to plan on taking several of the behind the scenes tours.....

i think there is a solo board somewhere on this site..

good luck!!

good on you for wanting to go alone, ive read a few food reports on people who've gone alone and they always say what a fun times theyve had. Generally people are more willing to talk to you in WDW than they are in the UK, im sure youll have loads of fun.:wizard:

Are you planning to stay onsite? I think if i was to go alone id probably stay onsite. :)

Thanks ill take a look at the solo bit. Yes im planning to stay on site, i think ill feel safer and i dont drive so getting around should be easier on site.

Good Luck, as a fellow Doncastrian i say blooming well go for it. It is a place my parenst would never have visited but since DH and io went a few years ago, my parents caught the bug and now have travelled all over Florida and are planning their 3rd trip, so you never know, go out there have a fab time and show them what they are missing and you might have have a couple of guests on your next trip. (and believe me there will be a next trip) Our next one is our 5th in 6 years:rotfl:

My first ever solo trip is fast approaching and I can't wait :)

I opted for May as it's a time I've been before and the flower festival is on at Epcot (my favourite park), early May is a great time, the weather is normally hot (but not humid), crowds perfect - fastpasses for the big rides but otherwise really good.

I'm also staying onsite and took advantage of the Disney US offer of 40% off a deluxe resort, if you go through a tour operator you'll get hit with the single room supplements which are a disgrace, considering you can stay onsite at the same resorts and pay room only. Also, if you book through Disney US room only you just pay 1 night's deposit and the rest when you check in.

Definitely check out the adult and solo trip board, there's some great people on there, and I've got a couple of meets thought this board whilst I'm out there. It's going to be the best of both worlds, time doing my own thing but also some company :woohoo:

I'm eating at quite a few restaurants I've not eaten at before but have chosen restaurants that have a 'counter' to sit on as I think I'll feel more comfortable there. The worst bit for me is flying as I hate it, but it's a means to get to my favourite place.

Half the fun is the planning/anticipation :goodvibes

Hope you have a great trip! I'm off on my 5th Disney trip, and my 4th solo trip at the end of may! You will love it, as you can never get bored at Disney! People do tend to talk to you more, and I often got an extra hug from the characters because I am eating alone! The only thing is you might be looked on with suspision by airport security on both sides of the Atlantic. But don't worry, once you tell then you love Disney, they will understand!

Hope you have a great trip!

I'm currently planning a solo trip for this summer, to visit some friends doing the College Program so good luck and I'll let you know how it goes! :thumbsup2
I can get a room at the Pop for a week for £203 through Thomas Cook, so I'm just hoping to find a cheap flight now :goodvibes

Book seperately or you are going to get caught with the huge single room suppliments that many of the travel industry charges us singles. If you want a car get it then next day (you can pick them up at the disney car care centre they will bus you to them and back when you return the car) us the dme to get to the hotel (if staying on property) Will you be staying on site and if so are you planning on going for the free ddp? If so I have been to disney with the ddp 3 times solo and once with the deluxe plan will be doing my 4th trip solo this time, so if you want any advise just ask.

:yay: Very happy and excited at the minute. My solo trip could be turning in to a family trip. My mums worried about me going on my own - ill be 23 btw! so her and my dad are looking in to coming with me - with my brother as well. :) been looking at prices etc for next september and thier going to talk it through over the next few days.

The hardest part is keeping it quite from my brother, but im not aloud to say anything till its booked :(. He already knows i was planing to go myself and asked if he could come, even offered to pay for himself, but i wouldnt feel good taking a 13 year old all that way on my own!!

I cant say anything to anyone yet, so had to post this on here :) :)

Holiday is booked, we are going next september, for 10 nights. Staying at Coronado Springs with free dining.

Is it to early to start planning...
