I'm staying in DVC for the first two weeks, but I'd like to stay in Florida one more week for which I do not have points. (since DH is going to be off skiing in snow country.)

Anyone have any recommendations for lower cost, safe, off property?

I stayed here solo last year after finding a good price - I think it was $50ish per night. The things I look for are interior corriders and clean, bug-free.

HTH!! :goodvibes

staying in a studio or 1 bedroom?

if a studio then do you need a kitchenette area?

if a 1-bedroom then you probably need to look at timeshares (condo) in the area.

most of the timeshares are pretty safe. do you own another timeshares besides DVC? if you have a regular membership with RCI - they have some nice sales - generally 60 days before you leave extra vacation or last call ones

otherwise look here

If I don't stay on-site, my favorite places are Extended Stays. They've got full kitchen and interior corridors. The prices are pretty decent. The only downside to many is the lack of daily housekeeping, but I prefer that. What area were you wanting to stay in?

I stayed solo at Bonnet creek last month in a 1 bedroom presidential..... I liked that it was in building 6 with a front desk and that in order to get up to the presidential units you had to have a room key to swipe in the elevator.. I loved it and felt very secure!!:goodvibes

I have stayed at bonnet twice...Very clean and the operations there are very good....Thinking on a solo trip early next year..

Hi Kat! Did you and Glendamax ever decide if you guys are coming back down in Dec? Would love to see you guys again. We are doing alot more offsite stuff this trip though.

Yep, Wyndham Bonnet Creek is where I'll be staying if I'm solo. I was there with family this past May and there solo in Sept and never felt unsafe. I was in a 1 bedroom deluxe, not a presidential but still felt safe. I'll be back there in Dec and April (with family though).

Depending on the season and renter you can get a one bedroom Deluxe for between $60.00 and $89.00 per night and you'd still be within the WDW gates.
