Hi,
I'm going to WDW this May 8-13. It's an early 21st bday trip for me (my bday is in July...I really don't want to be in Florida then..too hot!) and I'll be traveling with my mom and niece (she's 3).

I invited them on the trip with me. But I'm sure you all know that being with a 3 year old 24/7 can be nerve wracking (even in Disney) so I'm going to go off on my own one afternoon and my mom is going to have an afternoon to herself (I think she's going to the spa).

So. Any ideas for what I should do? Even though it's my bday trip, we're doing a lot of things for my niece (She's my only one...so I love to do things with/for her).

The day I'll have the afternoon "off" we'll be in Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I have reservations for Jiko at 630. Anyother ideas for things I can do?

Thanks!

That would be a good afternoon for a few things. Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach might be fun if you like water parks, and being alone gives you the chance to do some things that you can't do with the 3 year old (some of the rides for example.) Animal Kingdom and Expedition Everest come to mind as well. Also, you could just spend time at Disney Marketplace or at the pool at your resort.

One of the more enjoyable things might be afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. We like to spend time just exploring other resorts when we can, and the GF has plenty of things to see and do at it. Take a good book, go to afternoon tea, and enjoy yourself.

Every year we always break up for an afternoon into evening. I love my friends from college dearly, but there's a reason we live at all ends of the country and only congregate once a year. After 4 days together, we all need our alone time.

The last two times, I found myself gravitating back to EPCOT for the leisurley 6 hours. It gave me the chance to do the things I wouldn't have done otherwise. This past year, I did the Greenhouse Tour at EPCOT, then spent my time wandering through Innoventions. I was then able to meander through every movie, show, and shop in the World Showcase, which by the way is not a group activity. It might also be a good time for you to go on Mission Space, Test Track, and other things that you can't do with a 3 year old in tow. ;)

If you're really parked out at that point, which I have been. You can hop the boat from POR over to DTD. Having stayed at POFQ, I can tell you the boat ride is great and relaxing. Then you can take the time to stroll around DTD treating yourself to whatever you feel like.

I know it's probably too late to advance book, but see if there are any afternoon tours that would interest you. Would be a nice birthday present for yourself.

Thanks for the tips guys! I think I will stay at epcot and look at the world showcase and then head out to Jiko-- although I'll prob have to go change before?
