you're assuming that an actual table is preferable or somehow of less value than sitting at a bar, or the bar is the default option for solo diners. It's not, and it's fun to chat with the bartenders if they are not too busy, and watch them mix drinks. It is correct that the Disney reservation algorithm is much more likely to return a table for two than a table for one.

For me it is. I personally feel second-class sitting at the bar. Worse service, more rushed, etc. And I hate being forced to make conversation.

it may not technically be the default, but any time a question about solo dining comes up, virtually everyone says “Bar/lounge” and I just wanted it to be clear that solos ARE allowed to sit at a regular table.

of course they are. I have never thought the bar was worse service though. Bartenders are usually happy to have somebody sitting there

After many solo trips have eaten lots of places and almost always got good service. Usually the wait staff is extra friendly when they realize you're solo. Only place I ever got truly bad service was les Cellier in Canada, probably not just being alone, but not ordering alcohol put me in the ignore category. Personally, I like places where where things are happening, but not being a drinker I avoid bars. But go where you're comfortable.
This could be the time to try a restaurant that no one else you travel with likes or is interested in.
Also, to echo another poster put in for a party of 2 (there will be no issue at the restaurant) when checking for ADRs. Can't tell you how many times availabilities popped up for two when for one there were none.

I’ve done dozens of solo trips. Sat at both the bar and regular table. I have never been made to feel out of place at either. Twice I was given a discount for being alone. Two of my favorites have been Narcoosees and Jock Lindsey’s.

My favorite for solo dining is Saana, followed by Liberty Tree Tavern and Grand Floridian Cafe.
