you're assuming that an actual table is preferable or somehow of less value than sitting at a bar, or the bar is the default option for solo diners. It's not, and it's fun to chat with the bartenders if they are not too busy, and watch them mix drinks. It is correct that the Disney reservation algorithm is much more likely to return a table for two than a table for one.
For me it is. I personally feel second-class sitting at the bar. Worse service, more rushed, etc. And I hate being forced to make conversation.
it may not technically be the default, but any time a question about solo dining comes up, virtually everyone says “Bar/lounge” and I just wanted it to be clear that solos ARE allowed to sit at a regular table.
