Akershus Royal Banquet, lunch, Thurs 05.01.08
Let me preface this by saying, I'm not much of a girl. Okay, let me explain. I'm not a *typical* girl, anyway. I like sports, I'm a tomboy, don't like dressing up, etc. And I've never been gaga over the princesses. But! On this trip, I made it my mission to eat with the Princesses. Just because I never have. And as I may or may not have mentioned, I only booked this trip about a month before I actually went, or maybe a little more. Anyway, I was thrilled to get a lunch at Akershus, even though it was late, at 2:40pm. It really messed with my plans of taking an afternoon break (which at this point, I *really* needed, but more about that in the actual trippie...). But there's no way I was missing this!
So, really, it wasn't about the food for me. The food was fine. First up, bread basket with butter.
Um, I don't remember trying any. Then I went up to the cold bar.
There we have, um, salad, cube of muenster cheese, chicken salad, shrimp salad, mickey pasta salad, and bean salad. I wasn't a fan of the chicken and shrimp salad, too much mayo for me. But the rest was fine.
Next up came a Princess! I didn't go all goo goo gah gah or anything, but I was humbled by her presence
Princess Aurora
She was very nice. She told me that we matched, but I'd like to point out that my shirt is RED, as I REFUSE to wear pink (sorry, that's the tomboy in me...). But let's not argue about it! That's about all I got out of her. She moved on to the little girls who were much more interested I guess. But she was fine.
Then my main meal came. I ordered the open-faced salmon sandwich, which came with my choice of mushroom soup or seafood bisque of some sort. I went with the mushroom. It had barley. I love barley. It was good. The sandwich was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting much, but the fish was cooked well, and I love a good tomato/lettuce combo on my sandwich. I took off the bacon, as I'm not a fan. Oh how could I forget, here's the picture!
Then came the parade of Princesses!
Ariel
She didn't say much, just stopped for a quick pic and moved along. Oh well. I should have asked her about Flounder or somehting.
Then came Mary Poppins, she was a hoot!
She asked where I was from. When I told her NJ, she asked if I flew in, and I responded that yes, I flew in on a plane. So she inquired as to why I didn't just take my umbrella, if it was broken, etc. Like I mentioned, lots of good interaction with her!
And then Snow White
She was sweet. I told her to say "Hi" to Bashful for me, as he's my favorite. She promised me she would.
Yay! Princesses! Hehe, I'm making fun of myself a little, because I mean, I know how big of a deal it is for all the little princesses to meet their heroes, and it wasn't like that for me. But hey, it was fun anyway!
On to dessert! They brought me out the entire platter that they also brought out to a family of 4! Too much!
There we have the Princess Cake, Rice Cream with Strawberry topping, and I think it was Coffee Mousse or something? I don't remember, but I tried them all, and they were all really good! I very much enjoyed the Rice Cream, it was nice and smooth.
I also got a cupcake for my birthday (

)
I ate the gummy bears that came sprinkled around it!
IIRC, I also ordered a drink with this meal, but I can't seem to remember! I don't have a picture of it, which is weird. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me and I just had an iced tea...hmmm.
So lunch was good. Like I said, I wasn't there for the food (and this was one of my 3 TS days anyway...). I'm glad I got to meet the Princesses.
Oh yeah, how could I forget? The greeter was Belle, in her Gold Gown, but I don't have pics yet, because they're on Photopass. Although, they include the photo package now (great deal for 1 credit!), so I did take a picture of the picture...
Aaaand, I took pics of the menu. The middle one isn't that clear, sorry about that!
Now, looking at that drink menu, I do remember that I ordered a Kristiansand. But alas, no picture of it! It was probably good.
So yeah, Akershus, lunch with Princesses, good fun. Great use of 1 credit. Would I pay OOP for it? Probably not. But glad I did it!
next up: dinner @ Narcoossee's! w/my best friend's parents (so that's 3 people worth of food coming!!!)
