I don't know if this should be here or the cruise thread but - Has anyone ever done a Disney Cruise solo? I'm thinking about it - but I'm a little concerned.

I also have had thoughts on cruising solo... as far as safety is concerned I think your best bet would be with a Disney cruise.. but then again you never know... Wonder if anyone else has thoughts on this subject?

I sort of did a Disney Cruise solo in January 05. Sort of because (a) I traveled with a group of people that all used the same travel agency and (b) I had my 15yo nephew with me.

However, I was on my own for most of the time. Only time I saw my nephew as when I went to bed, he was already there and when I got up, he was still there. I was able to hang out with my friends for the most part, but was still on my own for things, as well.

I wouldn't hesitate to go on a group cruise as a solo traveler or even a Disney cruise solo. Not sure that I would go on other cruise lines but that's just my feeling.

Well I just put my deposit down for Oct. 27 2007 (7 Night Disney Eastern Cruise). I only know some of the folks that are going from chatting on Disboards. I've never been on a cruise but really enjoy Disney and like to have a good time. I definitely don't know what I'm getting myself into, but I like advetures so I'll see what happens.

If you're interested here is the link on Disboards for this cruise

I've been on 3 cruises solo, as well as other travelling -- and it's been fine. Occasionally there's a feeling of noticing that most everyone else is with someone else or a group, but overall it's great. Ask to be seated for dining at a larger table, so you meet some folks, go to the singles gatherings, participate in activities, sign-up for a couple of shore excursions (or arrange some along the way with people you meet). It's just about the safest way to travel (or maybe even the safest). It's a lot more comfortable not having to share a cabin! I haven't gone on a Disney cruise (yet) -- there will of course be lots more kids than on other lines. Just participate in lots of things, be outgoing, and have fun!

(I also once rented a car and drove around some of the Yucatan in Mexico -- to Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and Cancun -- by myself). Just do your planning, act like you know what you're doing and go for it!
