Solo Brits?

Are there any Brits out there who have gone to WDW solo? If so, how did you find it? When I tell friends this is what I'm doing (and am really looking forward to it!) - they look at me as if I'm mad - what do you think??

Having been with my family 4 times, I am looking forward to spending a week on my own in September at POP (with free dining!) to do everything I want to do (like spending ages in Innoventions!) at my own leisurely pace.

Would be really interested to know if other Brits have done this.

I absolutely don't think you are mad

I have never done it myself but I think a week would be perfect for this sort of trip

There is so much to do at WDW and often when you go as a family you have to compromise often (well, I know I do ) so imagine the bliss of being able to please nobody but yourself

Not done it myself either. But would love to!!!!!
Imagine, all those single rider lines, not having to constantly stand outside ladies loos looking like a weirdo (dw fault!), the constant squabbling over whose turn it is with the noodle in the villa pool, the incessant, 'are we nearly there yet' on the plane... oh, sorry, that's my personal hell

Sounds like a dream trip to me.
Good luck, and post a trip report, I bet lots of people would be interested in a lone travellers point of view.

Went there last year solo for 15 days, am going back again with the free dining this year 17//9 - 1/10 again solo. Have booked all my adrs with 4 extras to pay for they are CRT for Lunch for the second MNSSHP, Boma for breakfast, 1900 Park fare breakfast for first MNSSHP and Victoria and Albert's because of all the overtime I have been getting. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back again. Someone at work actually suggested I would enoy Skegness instead of disney

Hello from another Suzi!

I did a solo trip last September, fairly similar to yours, staying for a week at ASMusic, doing free dining, and loved every second of it!

I loved being able to explore World Showcase for a whole day, and eat in restaurants like 50s Prime Time, where my family would have been mortified, and take time to look around the resorts. I had a few moments where I wished I had someone with me (like at the water parks, or when something magical happened and I wanted to tell peolple about it), but there was never a time I regreted going there by myself.

You're going to have a fantastic time, and I'd me more than happy to answer any questions you have!

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to reply - it's nice to know that you all would jump at the chance of a solo trip (and not think that I'm mad for doing it!).

Thanks also to Miffy2003 for pointing me in the direction of a solo trip report which I have really enjoyed reading.

I have "lurked" for a long time on these boards, posting very occasionally, and thought about doing a trip report when I went to WDW last year with the family but didn't have the courage! After your encouragement, I will definately have a go at doing one this year! Watch this space!!

I am thinking about doing a solo trip in 2008 staying at POP, if i can save up enough money. I will make up my mind after our trip next year. I have always gone with my parents and again will be in September and next year (my 18th Birthday trip!). As i will only be 19 in 2008, it does need to be thought about carefully but my parents and myself are much happier with me wanted to go to WDW on my own than if i was going on a clubbing holiday with my mates (which is just not me). I hope you have a great time.

I took my friend to Disneyland Paris when we were 18 and we had an AMAZING time.

This summer, I'm taking a friend with me to WDW - we'll both be 21. I think at our age it's more important to go with someone - young girls travelling to far away lands alone isn't necessarily ideal, and it'd be nice for you to have some company. I know Disney is a safe environment but it's nice to have some "back up"

Most of my family come from Skegness .... and if you gave me the choice of being alone in either Skegness or Epcot, I'd chose a long windswept walk on Skegness north shore beach over that boring shopping lake at Epcot every time.

Still, each to his or her own!

I have thought about taking a friend with me however none of my friends get the whole WDW thing, they think its no better than a UK theme park (this really drives me mad!!! they have not got a clue lol). Once i Finnish my college course and start working, it would be great to meet someone who loves disney as much as i do, so i have someone to go with. The solo trip may never happen, but its certainly something i would love to do, as I'm quite independent and would love to do WDW completely my way.

I would jump at the chance of going alone

I've only once been away with a friend and, personally, wouldn't do it again.
We 'rubbed along' quite nicely but there were always moments where we had to compromise

I love to plan and do things my way so I say 'you go girl'

Have you checked out the Disney for Adults and Solo Travelers forum. Looks like there may be interesting advice on it.
