I'm not getting into LAX until 6 pm on 3/9 (a Wednesday) and taking a shuttle to CCI. I know it's too late for any park visiting/dining. Since I'm going solo and it's my first time in the area, I'm leary about going out on my own at night. I'm guessing I'll also be pretty beat from the trip from the East coast- any thoughts on nearby places to pick up a quick meal/snack?

There are a number of restaurants along the main streets (that the motels are on) plus fast food. You will between DTD & Anaheim Gardenwalk....so lots of choices.

I stayed at Candy Cane Inn, and after I checked in, I ate at Tony Roma's which is just on the other side of the street on Harbor Blvd. The food was very good.

If it were me, I'd just order take out and call it good!:thumbsup2

Did you say if you were taking a shuttle? Sorry...it's late and I should be going to bed soon...

Anyways, if you are in a cab or renting a car you simply MUST stop at an In-n-Out. Anyone know where the closest one to Disney is??

It's fast food but SO much better. Trust me on this one!;)

Since your staying at CCI you are very close to Anaheim Garden Walk -- there are several good places to eat there.

There is a convenience store right on the corner of Harbor & Katella, just a couple of minutes from your hotel, if you don't want to deal with a restaurant.

Have fun on your trip -- solo trips are great!! :)

Walking on Harbor isn't a problem, no matter what time it is. There are always tons of walkers out. Mimi's is good, Tony Roma's was good (when we had one here we ate there a lot but it's been years and we don't eat there at DL because DD11 doesn't like BBQ much), the GW has loads of places to eat. If you don't feel comfortable walking the hotel staff will get you a taxi, just call the front desk and they will make arrangements for you, it won't be an expensive trip, the GW is quite close. There are also loads of places to eat in DTD, you can take the shuttle to the drop off point, walk thru security, cross the esplanade (maybe take this time to shot some photos of the esplanade) and enter DTD on the other side, find something good to eat (RFC, Jazz Kitchen, are our faves) and then catch the shuttle back to the CCI. The shuttle is FREE for hotel guests so that would be pretty easy. :) You won't need a ticket to get into the esplanade, you just go thru security.
Oh and whatever you do don't eat at the IHOP (way overpriced) or Captain Kidd's (nasty and disgusting food that shouldn't be served to anyone), but we did find the Denny's to be very standard, good prices, good service, standard Denny's food. :)

HTH!

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions! I feel better knowing there will be a lot of people around and various options to explore- I'm really starting to get to get excited about this trip! It seems like I've been planning it for so long and now it's almost here :yay:
