Solo and Club Level?

To all the experienced solo folks out there -- would you do Club Level on a solo trip?

It would depend on which CL/resort and what parts of CL you appreciate/enjoy (or think you might enjoy)?

Maybe . . .

It would depend on what I wanted out of the trip. If I wanted to maximize park time and stick to a low budget, then no. I would book a value and only use it to sleep and shower. However, if I wanted to relax at my resort, and maybe not go to the parks at all (which I have done in the past, even with an AP), then I would consider it. I have considered it a few times, but ended up in one bedroom DVC villas on those trips. I would like to try club level sometime though . . .

Yep, if I could afford it I’d definitely book CL (at YC because I love Epcot area). With dietary restrictions the food offerings and personal service make CL a great choice for me.

Nope. I’d rather splurge on something like a Poly bungalow or a Bay Lake studio before I’d splurge on a club level room.

Absolutely. I usually do when I’m meeting someone or with my hubby, but I have split my stay and finished up at CL when solo. Did this once this year already and have a split next week with GF CL at the end. Prices are really high now, though, so I try to be good about chdcking/rechecking for discounts, booking BB stays, and using discounted gift cards. And then I drink all the lounge’s wine 😂.

In all seriousness, you are worth it! If you can swing it, go for it.

ETA: others make good points. Of all the CLs, I like GF or Cl (the king rooms on the 14th floor - this is my absolute fave) best as a solo. The lounges are quiet or you can find quiet seating. But you have to be sure you will use the lounge. If you’re a dawn-to-close person, it is not worth it.

I've only ever done Club Level at Coronado Springs and I greatly enjoyed the experience. I do think that doing it solo makes it harder to get your money's worth. If you're wanting to lounge around the resort and only go to the parks one or two days out of your trip, then it does add an additional element of the magic. If you're someone who goes to the parks from 10-4, then you're only really missing part of breakfast and their light lunch. That would also make it worth it. The POG mimosas are a lot of fun. Some resorts, such as Wilderness Lodge or Grand Floridian, will pipe in the fireworks music in the evening, too. It's definitely depends on what you want out of your trip. If you're willing and able to splurge and want to treat yourself, then go for it. If money is a concern, I wouldn't say you'd be maximizing it. Also, I'd say that the breakfast and dinner portions will fill you up. Lunch may not, as it's a lot lighter, so keep that in mind, too.

Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower is what I was looking at (failure on my part to not mention that when I posted the question). Considering a trip to get in the Christmas mood since I lost both my father and my husband this year, just kind of wanted an escape for a bit. I thought sitting in restaurants alone was just going to magnify my new situation and felt maybe club level might be a little less challenging.

I’m so sorry for your losses. Club level at Coronado is lovely and they have some really delicious food. It can be seafood heavy, but usually they have a good array of options. The club level rooms are on two floors with club level being the very top. I’d request a room on the top floor so you’re not hopping on an elevator every time you want to go grab food. It’s not a major buzzkill, just wanted to let you know. The staff are all so friendly! I think it would be a really nice way to ease into solo trips. There’s lots of seating so you can sit in club or take the food/drinks down to your room. Overall, I think it would be a nice trip for you to do. If you can, I say go for it! Coronado is super underrated, imo, and being in the tower makes it easy to pop to Dahlia’s Lounge if you want something extra.

I’m so sorry. I have worked up to solo - it’s a little scary and odd at first. So - yes. I love this idea for you. There are recommendations here for going solo/dining solo, and there is a really great Facebook group (Disney World Solo Travelers), and lots of advice and support. Bring a book/kindle, and indulge in YOU.

Thank you for mentioning the FB group, I sent a request to join.

No, I don't think it's worth it. The price difference could pay for a signature meal every night if you wanted to make the trip special.

Seafood heavy is great for me!

I went for it! Five nights at Gran Destino Tower Club Level then six nights at POFQ. I got my ten-day ticket with the first booking (package) and it is good until the 14th. I have room-only at POFQ. I hope I've played this right! The app on my phone is only showing the first reservation, but I have time to figure all this out. It says I can start check-in now

My room is Resort View, not sure where that will put me as I know very little about CS.

Thank you for your encouragement to do this!

I have never done a CL trip or a solo trip. Would love to try it some day. I think CL would be great for a heavy resort stay - especially if there is no F&G or F&W going on. I think it will help tremendously also with the "dining" solo - especially for the first time.

Sorry for your loss. My DH passed also this year also. I had my first trip with my DD (and family last month) and even though I was with them half of the trip, boy it was a tough one. It was a great and sad temporary distraction. I hope and it will lift your spirits/mood tremendously. :grouphug:

Next trip I am with my two sons (and families). Getting ready soon to book my next trip after that and might be my first "solo". Not sure yet. I am worried about booking longer than 7 nights. You are going soon, yes? Let us know how you made out!!!

I am going solo next month and doing club level at Beach Club. My DH and I went to Disney alot but he passed a few years ago. I went solo last year and found my self alone in my room sometimes eating a sandwich or breakfast before going to the parks. I thought that if I splurged this time for club level I can have something to eat and be around people. Maybe I can chat with the cast members a bit or say hi to some other guests. I can go read a book when I take a break from the parks and have a snack and have people around me. I found that the more time I am around people and not in my room alone is what I need. I will see how it works out.

I have done it and it’s wonderful. A leisurely breakfast of a croissant with marmalade butter while reading my hometown newspaper on my iPad was the perfect way to start the day.

I really wanted to book CL for my birthday ending in zero last year but Jiminy Cricket kept showing me a picture from the nightly news of a grandmother in a tent in Gaza tending to her orphaned grandchildren. I just couldn’t justify spending so much on myself when others have nothing. Not to get preachy, just offering my 2¢.

(And I’m sure people who book CL are also very generous in their charity giving, just saying I couldn’t do it.)

Well, I'll just say that my charity giving far outweighs the cost of club level. I was told it was okay to spend on myself. So I did. No guilt.

Please report back about your experience if you can. I'd love to know how it works out. Have a lovely vacation!
