Sold Every DVC Point--All 1560 of Them!

I do agree that over the last few years they've taken away perks we once had like pool hopping, free valet parking and now the changes they are forcing on resale owners, what others can everyone think of?

IMO it's the trend that I find upsetting. Seems like the changes have been pretty constant during the last couple of years. Disney was always different and special compared to other theme parks and timeshares. Now it feels like they are working very hard to be like everyone else putting profit first and Guests/DVC Owners second. :sad2:

If the DVC transformation continues, only Disney will make any money selling DVC contracts, the owners will see their resale value continue to drop.

Sometimes, things can just run their course and it's time for a change, what's the old saying, "Nothing lasts forever!". Yes, original members (1991) have seen the most change and apparently the changes keep coming. IcyDog, you've had 20 years worth of vacations and memories and also 20 years of dues and if life is taking you in a different direction, I'm glad that you were able to sell your contracts.

DVC still works for me now, but if and when it doesn't I'll follow your lead!

Best of luck to you!

Congratulations on selling your contracts when the value is still there. I'm sorry that you are no longer a member. Best wishes.

I like the supportive nature of the comments for IcyDog. We are all different and it's nice to know there is a community here that lifts up instead of tearing down.:grouphug: I've appreciated your posts and have learned from them many times.

Icydog,

Take solace in the fact that you can still vacation at Disney should you miss it too much.
With the proceeds of your sale, and the roughly $7800 savings per year in maintenance fees, that can pay for a pretty nice trip as a cash guest each year!;)

Congrats!! We're selling ours, too (more points than we need), but I'm hoping to pick up a smaller contract as soon as this sale passes ROFR and closes.

I'm also "downsizing" my DVC points, but I'll hang onto one contract just to use at VB, HH, GC & Hawaii and of course stay at DVC for the F&W Festival. But, we are still big WDW fans. What we've recently done is purchase a second home about 20 miles from WDW. Right now we have sold 175 points, have one contract on the market and will wind up with 210 left.

My guess is she will still visit DVC, just through exchanges.

Sorry you felt you needed to sell but happy you are free of your points. Hope you do stay around the forums, you have been a great help over the years.

Wow! 1500+ down to zero... talk about quitting cold turkey. Best of luck!
