For the second year in a row, my son and I were rained on every day during our vacation. We got thoroughly soaked twice, and unfortunately we only brought one pair of shoes each. But we were able to get out early every day before the hard rains came through.

Our accommodations were a trip in themselves. Because I needed to move our trip up two days, I was able to get two nights at BWV in a one bedroom preferred view. It was absolutely fabulous! I was almost ready to buy a DVC membership in order to stay for the rest of the week.

But, we had reservations for a one bedroom at Silver Lake Resort. I had heard a lot of good things about the resort on these boards, so I was looking forward to my stay. We were placed in a one bedroom lock-off. Please heed my warnings and never stay in a one bedroom lock-off! I could hear every word being spoken by our neighbors. We had no hot water for awhile. There were bugs in the unit. The dead bolt lock did not work. I asked management for an upgrade, which I was willing to pay additional money for. My concerns fell on deaf ears. They would not do anything to rectify the situtaion. They did not spray the unit after my complaints about the bugs.

I became so fed up, that the next afternoon, I called the DoubleTree in Downtown Disney and moved there for the rest of our stay. I will be complaining to Silver Lake and to RCI.

Sorry to hear that your room wasn't to your liking - but hope that you enjoyed your trip - thanks for posting!

put up with noises or bugs....where is this place located???? Hope your trip was still great....thanks again

Sorry your vacation was rainy. Ours too (we just got back on the 29th).

Yuck about the room! Glad you were able to move elsewhere.

Sorry about the weather. It rained everyday during our 98 trip--we swam for 15 minutes one day!

I can't believe how cruddy Silver Lake Resort was. I hadn't heard anything bad before.

I'm glad you enjoyed BWV. We are hoping to spend a few days there next June.

What a terrible hotel experience!!!!! I hope you had a fun time in WDW, though - or maybe not because of all the rain? Did you take your son on the Keys to the Kingdom tour? I am the one (along with my DH) who was on the tour with you in March. I remember you posting that you thought it was something he would enjoy. Looking forward to reading more.

Hey Krissy,

I did take my son on the Keys to the Kingdom tour and he loved it! He is bugging me about going on tours in the other parks.

JulesMom,

I only heard good things about Silver Lake on these boards before I left home. I was really looking forward to my stay. I have received some relief from my timeshare people. They gave me an RCI bonus week to use in the next year. But when I go back to Orlando, I will be staying at OKW, BCV, or BWV.

pumba,

Silver Lake Resort is located on Route 192 past the Disney entrances. There are a lot of good restaurants near it and a new Publix right down the road.
