First of all I would like to tell you all how wonderful this board has been!! We have planned a last minute trip to WDW, leaving May 31st, we were able to get three nights at CR with SOG but are on a wait list for the last five nights. I was wondering if anyone knows the odds of getting a room when you're on the wait list. They did offer us some overflow at Poly and AS but the prices weren't great. Any advice would be appreciated!

With the SoG cancellation policy the way it is, it might be tough to get those other nights at this late date. As close as your trip is, I would feel better continuing to check on overflow rates - perhaps a mod will pop up at a good price!

If you don't want to be on the SOG wait list, try getting the gov't. rate at the Swan or Dolphin. Don't know if they are available, but it's worth a shot.

You could call or e-mail SOG and ask them about overflow at the Swan or Dolphin, or just call them directly.

If you are active duty military you might want to check this out -

From Parks and Rec office-
"Walt disney world is providing active duty military personnel a freee 5-day admission pass to Walt Disney World theme parks, plus redused admission for up to 5 friends and/or family members at a rate of $99 per person for a 5 day pass. Disney is also discounting hotel rooms 40% to military families in conjunction with the free admission offer. A similar discount is being offered for Disney Cruise bookings."

This discounted rooms are NOT offered through SoG. They may be less than the overflow rooms. You need to contact WDW directly and ask about them. They are limited and there are black out dates. Hope this helps someone!

I booked six nights at CBR through WDW at got it for $600.00. If you can get a moderate priced room for about the same price as SOG it is definetely worth the switch. I love SOG but to skip the transportation center and go directly to MK is worth the extra couple of dollars a night.

They wouldn't let us book CBR because of their 4 to a room law, we are 2adults and 3 kids....best they could do was AS.

Your odds are 50/50. BTW, what is AS? :)

There is a chance. There are people like us who may have an "extra day" tagged on to the end that may drop it while there. This is legal and I even have written confirmation from SOG that we can do this.

That would be awesome. We went ahead and made reservations at AS and if SOG comes thru we'll change our reservations. Thanks to all!

What is AS? All Star Sports or Music or Movies? I "think" only 4 can stay in those rooms. POR can hold 4 in AB but they don't have many rooms now and SOG may not get any of these for overflow during POR rehab.
BTW-one of the days you need is the one we may drop;) ! BUT, we also may keep it:p ! Good luck, I am sure there are others like us:D !

All Star Music is the only one we could get, would have preferred the Movie one but I think the kids will like it and we got two rooms. Drop that night would ya!!!!! LOL

I don't know how easy this would be, but have you thought about contacting the Contemporary directly to see if they have anything available and if you could extend your rate? With a week to go, I don't know how likely it is that rooms will open up on te waitlist....

it's just a shot. I also agree with looking into the S/D. I'd stay there over the All-Stars in a second. I would call the 800 number for the S/D about their govt. rates instead of SoG, though.

good luck!

Really?? I read that you don't get the Disney feel if you're at the Dolphin/Swan, I know they do have military rate which is cheaper than the two rooms at A/S. We tried the CR but they are full...:(

NickyRe, you'll get tons of Disney magic at the Dolphin or Swan!

And it's much better than any of the All Stars, it's a deluxe resort in one of the best locations on Disney property, the Epcot resort area! You are so close to Epcot that you can walk there! You can also walk to MGM.

You can watch the fireworks from Epcot's Illuminations nightly outside from many areas around the resort and the Boardwalk, and if you're lucky, your room!

I agree with everything Blondie says....we love the S/D properties (check out my signature :) )! Do they have the "Disney Magic"? That's an individual preference. Some say no, some say yes....I don't need mickey soap to remind me where I am, LOL....I just step out onto the balcony and look at Spaceship Earth, that's all the reminder I need.

that said, I have a good friend that LOVES the All- Star resorts. Her kids think tey are a lot of fun--they have to get 2 rooms, too. My friend likes that they have an extra bathroom in the AM. I do know that I see buses for the All-Star resorts all the time, that is a great thing!

We are spolied, though. Between the CR (through SoG) and the Dolphin, we won't ever stay anyplace that relies only on buses ever again :)

Good Luck!

Did you make your reservations at ASM thru SOG? They told me that once you make the reservations at another resort you automatically come off the wait list for CR.

We had reserved through ASMu but yesterday we called SOG back and they told us there is no such thing as a wait list!!!!! Anyway, she was able to get us all the nights we need except one(at the CR), so we booked AK for that one night through Disney and then if SOG can come up with that night between now and five days prior to our AK ressie we can cancel. So it does pay to keep calling them daily even though it takes 30-45min. to get through to them! :)

No such thing as a wait list??!!! Ok - well at least you got the room!! Congrats and have a great trip!

I ASSUME there IS a wait list since I was told I was on it and when I emailed SOG inquiring about it they said "Yes" I was on the wait list. Keeping my fingers crossed!;)
