We may have a military discount (my husband is in process of joining reserves) - right now we have bounceback with free dining (which we love) for next Sept. Wondering about pros/cons of staying at one of these resorts vs. POR with free dining

I'd love opinions on hotels, food costs w/o dining plan, ticket discounts???

thx.

I can't comment on the dining plans but frankly, I love SoG. We have stayed at the Swan in the past and while it is nice, it is very much a convention hotel to me. SoG has the largest rooms on property, it is quiet, the staff and the guests are friendly, and if your DH is just entering the military, and is a lower rank, you will get a great TAX FREE rate. We just got back yesterday, and since I planned the trip only 3 weeks ago, I could only get 3 nights at SoG and then had to move to Port Orleans. It was a let down. To me, SoG compares with the deluxes.

I would think it would depend how much you will save with the free dining. Shades of Green has really nice rooms, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. From info on other threads....you should be able to purchase the discount tickets without actually staying at SOG.
