Has anyone been over to SOG lately to see how the construction is going or does anyone even know what's new? I posted this about a month ago and no one responded. So I thought about trying it again. I wish that they would give updates on the official website as to what's happening. I don't mind the pcitures they have I just wish that it would show more.

I'd like info about SoG updates too. Does anyone know where they are available.

On the official website, there is actually a real time video where you can watch the progress. It's accurate until 7:00pm every day. They must turn off the camera at night. Besides that, I know of noting else.

OK, I feel stupid. Maybe it's late. What is SoG?

Looking at the web cam pictures, it looks like there is a lot of work to do to meet the December opening date! Does anyone know if that isstill a firm date for completion of construction and occupancy?

It has to be. Apparently, the penalty for them (SoG) to stay at the CR beyond the contract date is enormous. I still say they'll open, but the hotel won't be ready and only those guests that put up a stink will get any thing for their troubles (most guests don't say a word).

I spoke to my friend the other day (she picked me up from the airport) and she didn't have any thing of any interest to share. As always, if I hear any thing interesting, I'll put it here. :)

We have reservations at SoG next February. Do you think the shakedown will be complete by then? Thanks.

We have reservations for 1/1/04 to 1/06/04. They have assured me they will be up and running. They told me they are booking the existing rooms first (the ones that they simply remodeled) We actually have one of the new 10 person suites booked... so I hope they are ready!

I didn't know about these. Can you tell me how much are the new 10 person suites? and how is it configured? Thanks so much!

I don't know what I was thinking... I have an 8 person suite reserved. I found out about it on the SOG web site. They have an 8 person suite for $225 and a 6 person suite for $ 200. There is no difference in price no matter what rank. There is a seperate bedroom with a full bath and a living room with a kitchenette and another full bath. I think the difference is the 6 person suite has a king bed in the seperate bedroom. I think the 8 person suite has two beds in the seperate bedroom. From what I understand, there are two queen sleeper sofas in the living area.

I would think it would be. It was supposed to take 17 months to complete w/ no guests (23 with them). This is why when they kept insisting it would be Dec, it made no sense since that would put it right at 16 months (work was not started until Aug and even then, it was sporadic for most of the month). If they hadn't have wasted four good working months, I think they could have been open for Labor Day this year, or at the very least, had a nice comfortable cushion in case of lots of bad weather. Now, I think they're going to have to scramble hard, but I'd be very surprised if all of the bugs weren't worked out by Feb.

Whenever a hotel opens or reopens, there is ALWAYS going to be problems. You can't check every thing out and the guests get to be the guinea pigs. I'd have no desire to stay at the hotel during the first month they're open. I'd rather wait and let other people find the irritants and problems so my stay would be more trouble free. I think you're going at a much better time. :)

To the other poster, of course they're going to assure you they'll be open in Dec (what are they going to say? "UH, we *think* we'll be open!"). They have little choice. Allegedly, the penalities in the contract with Disney are astronomical so they would much prefer reopening when they aren't ready and irritating the guests (who will still come no matter what because of hotel location and cost and most will accept the buy off of a free meal or one night's stay for their troubles) than have to pay Disney. I have no doubt they'll be open, but I question whether the entire hotel will be open and ready for receiving guests. Who knows....maybe every thing will be fine. I'm not holding my breath for it.
