SOG expansion

My wife was in Sicily this past week. She heard on Armed Forces Network that the SOG was going to be expanded. They are going to close it down in order to complete the expansion quicker. However, in the meantime they said that they would be offering deep discounts at the Disney and area hotels. Just wondering if anyone else had heard this.

During the renovations, SOG is offering rooms at The Contemporary at SOG prices. Give them a call!

I just called SOG a few days ago and asked about an overflow rate for May. When I mentioned I was just adding a night to a pkg and that we'd be at the GF for the pkg part of our stay, the reservationist asked if I'd like a room at the GF. It's not a fabulous rate, but it sure beats paying full price. She offered garden and lagoon view.
Ask for the resort that you want. I didn't ask about the Contemporary and maybe the discount there is better, but I'm happy with what I got through SOG.

SoG is taking over the north wing of the Contemp. (300 rooms) We will be able to stay at SoG prices plus 11% tax. It books fast so make your ressies as soon as possibe. There are some informative SoG threads on this board started by FirstNo. Hope this helps.

It's correct....and it's not. Yes, SoG will be closing. That part is right. As to the deep discounts....well, we've ALWAYS offered discounts to the other resorts. That hasn't changed. It's no deeper now than it was before we knew we were closing.

Guests who have guaranteed reservations for SoG, will be staying, courtesy of Disney, in the North Wing of the Contemporary at the SoG rate + 11% tax. However, this is ONLY for guests with reservations for SoG. If we are sold out, then you're not going to get that rate at the Contemporary. You'll get whatever overflow rate Disney has offered to us for that time (which, for the Contemp, would be any where from $129-over $300/nt + tax, depended on the building and view).
