Two questions re: Contemporary rooms for those using SOG discount. (NOT overflow rate ---- booked thru SOG)

1. I've seen 2 different styles of room decor on Deb Wills website. Do the North Garden Wing rooms have the black & white decor as shown on her website OR the more colorful decor depicted in the photos of the tower rooms?

2. Has anyone using a SOG discount ever received an upgrade into a tower room? (say for parents 50th anniv & first time to WDW)

We stayed at Contemporary through shades of green in may. We were given a South Garden wing room due to the fact that my daughter had a foot injury and it was closer to the main building. The rooms were in the bright colors. You will love the convience of this resort. The rooms are also large.

I think our room was colorful last month--we were on the 3rd floor. I haven't seen the pics at Deb's site, so I can't say for sure :)

if it happened to anyone, I would say it is quite rare. There's a reason why, but I'm not exactly sure what it is....sorry.

Well it happened to us this past April. We were stunned when the wonderful CM gave us the upgrade. This wonderful guy
sent us to a room on the 11th floor with a dead center view of the lake. The Disney magic was bestowed upon us that day!!!::MinnieMo

Capegirl, you were at Contemporary on SOG & get upgraded? Had you let it slip that is was a special occasion or anything?

Please tell!

I promise you, there was no special occasion. I suppose we just caught the CM on a good day. We spent 10 days there and we had THE best time ever!!! ::MinnieMo

We just got back today from 7 days at the Contemporary (booked through SOG). We stayed in the North Garden Wing and weren't upgraded, but did get a water view (upon request at check-in). Really cool cause we got to see the water parade each night - and it was just a nice view as opposed to looking out over the playground or parking lot.

Our room was colorful - and the convenience of the monorail was awesome! Especially coming back from the MK for breaks, cause the Contemporary is the 1st stop. At night after the fireworks, we found it quicker to just walk back to the resort rather than wait/ride the crowded monorail.

Anyhoo - colorful room, no upgrade - but water view is nice.

Just for your info, there is a NEX (Naval Exchange) about 20 minutes away, near MCO. If you ask at the SOG office, they will give you directions. It was a exchange/commissary and we bought a lot of breakfast and snack items there, as well as wine coolers and a cooler to keep it all cold in. It is well worth the trip to stock up on stuff. (The toy section in the outer building was having such a good clearance sale that we bought a ton of stuff and shipped it all home!)

We were there from 8/27 - 9/7, so if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
When you are in the SOG office of the CR, keep your eyes opened for a small notice on the desk about a special "taste testing luncheon" at SOG. It is usually held once a month at SOG, and you get to try some of the things they are planning to serve in the dining areas. It was $7 per person, and they supplied the transportation there and back to the CR, and was a buffet style lunch. We just needed to answer a few questions about what we did or didn't like after we were done. WELL WORTH IT!

HI! We are staying at the Contemporary/SOG in early December. Does anyone know what time the ticket office opens and closes?

We have stayed at this resort through the SOG several times and it was great, especially for the price. The rooms in the north wing are colorful. Ihope you get that special upgrade but I do think you will be happy with the north wing too.

While we were there in September the hours were 7am - 5pm, but they may have been different on the weekend, I don't remember.

I believe that there are two rates at CR using SoG.

The first rate is based on CR being a replacement for SoG while SoG is under construction. I do not think that these rates would be upgradeable as these rooms are specifically set aside in the North Gardin Wing. Also these rates are VERY low.

The second rate is the overflow rate from SoG. These rooms can be anywhere in the CR, not just the North Gardin Wing. These rates are higher than the replacement rates and may be upgradeable as they are substantially more that the replacement rate. Hope this helps clarify things.
