Software to cut/edit music from CD

Help!

I have a CD, that I would like to record one song from, cut it a little bit, and then re-record it onto a CD. I need it to be a specific length.

I tried to do it on my computer with the resources that were immediately available, but it would not work because the file was not in .wav format.

Does anybody know of an easy to use program that will allow me to do this?
