Softest cotton sheets

Looking for super soft cotton sheets. I am very sensitive to stiffer sheets and want something that feels soft right from the start. I do prefer cotton and would even prefer organic if possible. Not interested in flannel, for me they're too hot even in cooler weather. Any recommendations? I want luxurious. I've found sometimes higher thread counts are just heavier and not necessarily softer or is it just maybe the brands I've bought. And don't pil hopefully.

Would also consider Bamboo but I have no experience with them. Are they softer than cotton? Anyone have opinion on bamboo? I am tired of buying sheets only to just like ok only but not really getting what I'm looking for.

I bought some cotton sateen sheets at Sam's for the guest room and all our visitors rave about them. I used to buy Ralph Lauren sateen sheets for all our beds, but I have not found them lately at Homegoods or Marshall's.

Watch out for Egyptian cotton. They are scratchy after the first wash. It takes about 6 washes to get them soft enough to sleep on. IMO.

I actually recently purchased Tommy Hilfiger pillow cases at Marshalls. They are amazingly soft, and I’m looking to pick up a full set of sheets.

My husband recently purchased us Bamboo sheets and I am in LOVE!!! They are softer than many of the expensive sheets we own, I absolutely love them!

Bamboo will be softer than any plain cotton, albeit they are not near as durable. DH went through a phase of wearing bamboo socks and some of them only lasted 2 or 3 wearings.

While they are not very expensive sheets, I really like Jersey sheets and find them to be very soft. It is like sleeping in your favorite old T-shirt.

Also..running the sheets through a vinegar wash will help soften them too.

I got some 500 count Egyptian cotton sateen sheets from Amazon on clearance. Super soft but they wrinkled like the dickens. :badpc: I never would have thought wrinkled sheets would be such a peeve of mine, until I got these and they looked like wrinkled, rumpled cleaning rags even before I lay down. They would get worse throughout the night and those wrinkles never went away. And I do NOT iron my sheets. No inclination to waste my time doing that.No wonder they were on clearance. I'm very hesitant to try Egyptian cotton again if that's synonymous with wrinkles.

I did like another 500 count, really thick, soft, sheet from Walmart, but they disconnected those.

I went back to 300 count sheets. I was surprised to find cotton sheets from Target are surprisingly soft, sturdy and thick for 300 count sheets. (They are advertised to be "ultra soft.") These are them below. They are on sale this week. :thumbsup2

I'd try for anything above 500 thread count and 100% TONS of sheets claim to be cotton (especially egyptian cotton of sateen cotton) but are actually a poly/cotton blend which I HATE. As suggested above vinegar will help soften them on the first wash.

higher thread count simply does not equate with higher quality, or more softness.
It is the quality of the cotton fibers, the type and quality of the weave, and any processing (wrinkle free).
Also, if one reads the detailed information, the fiber content, such as any polyester, must be given.

Best sheets I have ever had were just absolutely buttery soft!!!
They were the Chris Madden(?) sheets that were sold thru J.C. Penney.
Amazing! But, discontinued years ago. I still have a couple of pillow cases.

I bought the most expensive line of sheets from Bed and Bath... they were pretty good.
Bought another set, more recently... and just not the same... much thinner and lighter. Uggghhhh.

We have the JC Penney Royal Velvet 600 count sheet and I love them! And they look to be cheaper than the 400 count right now if I read it right.

I have paid a lot for sheets and I have paid very little for sheets. I do not think the cost makes a bit of difference. I had one set that we paid quite a bit for that was supposed to "the ultimate" in soft sheets. They did not hold up for very long. I had a more mid-price range set that I bought at Sam's that I loved. When I replaced those, I actually found the perfect color for my room at Walmart. Softest most comfortable sheets to date.

I tend to feel them before I buy them. If they don't feel in the package like I would want to sleep on them, not buying them.

I bought our new sheets from Sams and they are amazingly soft. They were a great price too - $50 for a two pack of King sheets.

Definitely Boll and Branch. You can usually find some $$ off. Softest most cool and amazingly silky sheets I've ever felt. EVER. And I'm a sheet snob. I also use sheet made in Portugal, extra long staple cotton, very expensive but sometimes found at Tuesday morning. Peacock alley has some nice ones too but yeah, Boll & Branch. Worth every single penny.
