soft opening dates for "Nemo" ?

I am hoping we get out to DLR for a few days in July or August, and Nemo will be one of the things we visit. Here is what I have gathered so far:

1. Nemo will be a relatively "slow loader" at about 1200-1300 per hour. For comparison, PP and Dumbo can handle about 600 per hour, while rides like Space Mtn, HM and POTC can handle 2000-3500 per hour. With high demand this summer for Nemo and slower loading, long lines will exist.

2. No FastPass for Nemo

3. SoCal Annual Pass holders have blockout dates that typically run from late June until late August. That means that if Nemo opens in June, AP holders will flock to ride it before the blackout in late June similar to what happened at the POTC ride in June 2006 when it re-opened. If this happens, Nemo will be very busy in June - especially on weekends,

4. During the summer of 2007, your best bet to ride Nemo without long lines is to get to DL before it opens, get a good place in line at the gates, and then ride Nemo first thing. That is what we plan to do.

5. The excitement over Nemo, and probable 90-120 minute lines this summer will make all other lines a bit shorter as this is a new people eater which will spread people out more. So ride Nemo first, and then enjoy shorter lines in all other lines the rest of the day.

6. If you are a multi-day trip, other visitors will have a similar strategy to ride Nemo first. Thus days on which you skip Nemo will be a great time to hit other rides at DL first thing while people are flocking to Nemo. I suspect this will take pressure off of PP, Dumbo and the FantasyLand rides.

so... (I try to sound very casual...) what will folks with closterphobia (sp) be thinking about this ride? I hate to be the chicken-dork every single trip!

I'm somewhat claustrophobic myself but I never had issues when it used to be the submarines...I remember feeling the air on me in there...also I dont think I had issues with people and BO either

:thanks: for taking the "I will always wear deoderant so I don't stink up the Nemo ride (and other rides for that matter) OATH!!!!

I too will promise to always wear deoderant and wear coolmax fabric where applicable. :rotfl:

I will make sure if I dont always smell as sweet as a :flower1: to freshen up.

All in favor say I!! I!! I'm placing my right hand on a DIsney map as I say this!!!

Winter wasn't too bad, it was summer after standing in a 2 hour line that all the nice sweaty people loaded on the sub together and when they shut the door, we were all locked in with no where to go. Even I couldn't hold my breath for the duration!!!

I'm really just playing around. It did stink but not enough to make you faint or anything serious. JUst enough to singe your nose hairs :lmao:

Ok so along with the pledge and the hand on the disney map ritual I think I am going to bring a nose clip to the Nemo ride just in case!!!!How funny would that be if someone put a clothes pin on their nose as they descended the stairway into the sub and said "Here we go again!" :rotfl:

In all serioiusness and back on topic :rotfl2: It seems to be the consensus here that sometime in June Nemo will be opening.:rotfl: Back to your postings.....

Yeah I was wondering since everything has said June 11th so far, how are some people hearing July now? Are they running behind, or is there an update on how we heard this? Thanks

Up until a month or two ago, the rumor was Disney was working hard to get Nemo open by July 4. This was rumor, and not anything from Disney. Then Disney announced about a month ago that Nemo would open June 11. Then a couple weeks ago they had a huge problem when they refilled the sub lagoon for the first time in years, and flooding occured in parts of Tomorrowland. So there was speculation this might delay the June 11 opening. Right now June 11 is still the plan.

Thanks, I had heard about the flood but didn't know it had possibly put them that far off track!! Atleast it's all fixed and filled now, here's to hoping it opens on time.

Andrea

It is definitely hard on those that hate small enclosed spaces. Most of all I am hoping that they worked out some type of ventilation system because in the summer, the B.O. smell in the subs could literally knock you to the floor.
I'm guessing that's one of the things they would have improved on but you never know!!

But this could be the opportunity of a lifetime for corporate sponsorship:

"THE NEMO SUBMARINE RIDE,BROUGHT TO BY FEBREZE!"

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

OK, OK. With all of the comments about B.O. I would say that is still another reason to hit the Nemo ride first thing in the morning. :)

Even then have the gas masks ready....

Now that was funny!! I shoulda thought of that, everyone knows the new ride needs a sponsor!!

I agree with hydroguy, yet another reason to ride first thing! Although then it's been closed up airtight all night after the last riders!! Another thought to ponder.

I'm most afraid of smelling someone's "silent but deadly" killers! :faint:

Disney will be wondering why Nemo isn't drawing as big of crowds as they thought!! That's because all 100,000 of us on the DIS know the truth about the subs!!!

I also pledge along with wearing deodorant not to ride the subs after eating at Rancho Del Zocalo or Tortilla Jo's. BWAAAA HAAAA!

If it's not silent, just pretend it's one of those giant treasure chests inside fish tanks that let out lots of bubbles like on Nemo!!! Then it will be part of the ride, like ambiance.

I pledge to never let dh or ds on this ride for this reason!!!

LOL! I think I'll be passed out before I could start imagining that.

Maybe I should try yelling: "Twenty-Three-Nineteen!" ;)
