My DS refuses to wear jeans because they are "too scratchy." Does anyone know of a brand that is made from a softer denim?

I have to agree with the Lands End suggestion. They can be a bit more expensive but, they are soooo worth it because they are super durable. My nephew gets my sons hand-me-downs and the Lands End jeans look like new when I give them away and let me tell you my son is hard on his jeans (sliding, rolling, climbing etc.). After my older nephew out grows them they go to his little brother and still look great.

I like the Original Kids by Oshkosh at Target. They seem really soft, that's all I buy for DD. I'm kinda jealous, they're nice and soft and cute!

WalMart sells Garanimals denim pants for $4.50 and they are really soft. I think the sizes go up to 5T. In the winter I just put a pair of thermals underneath for warmth.

Kohls also has some Jumping Beans brand jeans that are really soft (and pretty cheap).

In Target there is a rack of jeans that are made by Circo they are normally around 9 bucks a pair. They are not hanging on a hanger they are folded in a rack. They are really soft..my DD loves them and prefers them over any of her other jeans!!

Hi
Also at Walmart they have Faded Glory jeans. Soft and wash well minimal shrinkage, they were 5.99 . How could you go wrong. My son is only 4 and as long as its soft and blue we are ok.

It's a little expensive, but Hanna Andersson clothes are all very soft. My DD (10) won't wear jeans, but I just ordered her a pair from them with all elastic waist (I just got the box, and haven't opened it yet). They have nice soft pants and tops, and a lot of their clothes are unisex. My daughter loves their playdresses and matching leggings, too, and she's been wearing them for 7 or 8 years - usually can get two years' wear out of them also. She's very tomboy, so that is as dressy as she'll get. Their sweatpants and matching jackets are nice and soft, and so durable. You can frequently get two years out of them - and my kids grow fast! They cost too much, really, but for us it's worth it, as my kids don't have a lot of clothes (they wear uniforms, which I love, saves $$ and stress).

Why does he have to wear jeans? Buy him pull on pants that he likes.

Funny, I thought that too! I hate jeans, they are never comfortable. They are so thick! My older kids all wore leggings (girls) or just soft pull on pants (boy and girls) until they were about 3rd grade. Then they gave into the peer pressure at school and starting wearing only jeans.
My youngest is in the 6th grade and we homeschool now so there is much less pressure to be "cool." So she has a couple of pairs of Old Navy jeans but she prefers soft knit capris and yoga pants.
I imagine lined jeans would only work if you live somewhere really cold, and even then you would get hot with the heater inside.
Have you looked at pull on cords for the winter?

I buy all of my boys jeans from Lands End! Not the lined ones, just the regular ones. I can't stand cheap, scratchy, stiff jeans for myself or my boys.

Wow, thanks for all the replies! I have a lot to look for now.

I'd like him to have 1-2 pairs because we live in the woods and he does a lot of outdoors stuff with his dad. We like him to wear jeans to protect him from briars and things.

Children's Place has softer jeans in my opinion. Sometimes buying used, like at a consignment shop, will help in finding "broken in" jeans which will always be softer than brand new.

I buy Children's Place jeans for my son and daughter and they are soft, wear well, and have the adjustable straps!!! Plus they are 2 for 22 bucks :)

Also like Genuine kids jeans from Target...Oshkosh off brand I think but they are also soft and wear well for the cash.

I have posted on this very subject!
My DS does not like snaps, zippers, or "plastic leather", as he refers to wind pants so commomly sold for boys his age!

We need SOFT pants. The best luck I have had is with Garanimals at Walmart. $5 a pair, and they run to at leat a size 7. They are thin, and won't really work this winter, but they are great for now. They come in khaki, navy, blue jean, and dark gray.

For winter, I got Gymboree pants. Soft, and pull on.

Look online for Mulberribush, Sweet Potatoes, Wes & Willy, Mis-Tee-V-Us. Those brands are all awesome, and several of them make an elastic waist, pull-on jean that is made of a much softer denim than regular jeans. They also make flannel pull-on pants that coordinate with their long sleeve T's - SUPER cute.

I have ordered from Blue Turtle Kids and the CWD catalog before. :)
