Soft Coolers and Soda on board

Could someone please explain Disney's policy on soft coolers? I need to bring one on board 9/7/02 for my little ones (juice boxes, sippy cups, etc). I bought one today for 12 cans of soda and it is collapsible. Should I pack the collapsible cooler and have the kids hold their drinks when we are boarding or can I actually have the cooler as one of my carry-ons? Can I bring soda (not cans) on board or should I pack them as well? Should I forget soda completely as it is so heavy? I am winding down on my packing but the drinks and snacks are holding me up.

Last January I had no issue bringing any of this on board.
I do suggest that you just carry your little cooler with you.
If you check all your snacks with luggage, and your kids are anything like my son Nicolas... he didn't like or want any of the food at the lunch buffet. Those snacks come in handy.

The only soda I bought on board was Gingerale . Good thing, as back in January there was a fierce stomach bug going around! I was sick as a dog. (better me than kids)
I had the two liter size. We packed all our stuff into a rolling duffle bag that we kept with us while boarding ship.

We took a rolling collapsible cooler on our cruise as a carry on. It was loaded with soft drinks and beer- no ice you can get that as soon as you get to the room. They would not allow us to 'check' the cooler because it had drinks but we could carry it on. The porter said they had problems with them leaking or bottles breaking so they couldn't check them anymore. I have read here where others were allowed to check theirs so . You can bring glass containers on board but cannot have them up on deck with you - broken glass/ barefeet not a good combination. Bringing sodas and juice boxes did save us a little money. We took our on drinks with us when we did St Thomas on own own. Sodas on board are also expensive. Your cabin steward will keep ice in your cooler for you.

Hi folks,

A friend of mine just went on the Wonder a couple of weeks ago and her docs included a bold faced statement that coolers were not allowed onboard. She reported upon return that she did not see any at the terminal. Anyone gone recently that tried a cooler and can confirm or refute?

Ditto on our cruise documents -- they specifically state no coolers allowed on board. Sorry.

Our also stated no coolers. They are really talking about the large hard sided coolers that take up a lot of space. We sailed this past Jan and did not have a problem.

Had a very small collapsible cooler that I packed
in a suitcase, empty. Carried on bottles of
water, and refilled the bottles at Topsiders
(on suggestions by other DISers - thank you!).
Cabin Steward filled cooler (after the second day)
with ice - it was great having it in the room.
The little coolers they provide in the room do
not cool any drinks. Paid around $6.00 at
Walmart for the cooler and thought I'd just
leave it behind, but since we booked two other
cruises onboard, I took it along!!!!
