I am flying from Gatwick North. Normally I use Tesco vouchers and stay at the Hilton. However with the shuttle not working at the moment and a 0925 flight I am wondering if I should pay for the Sofitel. What do you think? Can you just walk to the terminal from Sofitel (like the Hilton)?

We greatly preferred the Sofitel to the Hilton, having stayed at both :thumbsup2 You can walk from the Sofitel to the terminal although when we were there the walkway was closed, which meant we had to walk through the car park and across the road - not a problem for us, but might bother you if it's still the case and you have children :)

Did you know you can use Airmiles to book the Sofitel? You can use your Tesco vouchers, convert them to Airmiles and then use the Airmiles to book the hotel. Saves paying cash :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if you can use tesco vouchers to pay for a hotel in
Barcelona??

Thanks for this! I think I may end up paying cash as I needthe room in less than 6 weeks time! Talk about sudden decisions but we are flying out to do a 2 week river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam and only booked it this week! How on earth can I be doing a non Disney holiday on the spur of the moment like this???

You could do it the same way, by converting to airmiles then booking through the website. If you look at he website www.airmiles.co.uk you can see what hotels are available and how many airmiles it will cost

Much prefer the Sofitel, and yes, it is linked to North Terminal via a covered walkway. I am pretty sure this is open again, but you might want to give the hotel a quick call to check.

If you plan on having breakfast, I would book a rate that includes it - we have paid £122 for October including breakfast, which is otherwise about £18 / head I think.

Well I have ended up doing neither! I suddenly remembered I had some Marriott points so I am staying at the Courtyard near South Terminal. I may be using some Taxis but those points have been sitting there waiting to be used for years!
