Sofabeds at SSR

We are going on our first DVC trip in a few weeks. We're staying in a Studio at SSR. I have a question about the sofabeds. Are they already made up or do we need to make them up when we are ready to use them? Where are the pillows? It should be nice weather, but are there extra blankets in case it does get cold?

Also, we will have a car and will stop to get some supplies. If we leave our extra paper plates, cups, coffee filters in the room will Mousekeeping leave them there for the next guests or toss them? I know they will toss food, but what about non-food items?

If I remember correctly (and if I don't I'm sure someone will help us) the bed is made. I've only used the sofa bed once and that was awhile ago. The pillows all have cases on them and are stored in the back of the bed with these new sofas. There are extra blankets in the hall closet.

I believe everything left behind is tossed. I've never found anything "extra" in the rooms in all the years I've been going.

We just stayed in one Feb 4/5. Maybe they are supposed to be made up, but ours was not. All clean linen, pillows, and blankets were in closet. This is what the sofa bed looked like when we first opened it up :

We also had to make our sofabed at SSR (once in a studio and once in a 1BR). The sheets were in the closet. We called for an extra blanket and they brought us one no problem.

Mia -- thank you thank you thank you for the photo of the sofa bed. I think I'm going to be "stuck" on it for this next visit, so now I know to take along my memory foam mattress pad (we're driving, so I can do that, altho I have been known to take it as my carry-on!).

Everyone is correct, the sofa beds are never made up at any resort i believe the linens were in the closet

I also wanted to write to say that Disneys sofa beds are the most comfortable ive ever slept on, its virtually like a regular bed.

We were in a studio at SSR and a studio at VWL this past January.

The SSR sofa bed was as displayed, and was not made up - the sheets and blankets and pillows were in the closet.

The VWL sofa bed *was* completely made up, with at least sheets. The pillows were tucked in a section of the back of the bed, and I think the blanket was in the closet.

The VWL sofa bed was a different design than the SSR bed. The SSR bed seems to have 3 separate foam pads that probably fold into the bed in such a way that folding it while made wouldn't work very well. The VWL sofa bed was one folded mattress (I think) and appeared to work fine for closing it when made.

Anyone know how many different kinds of sofa beds they have in the different DVC resorts at this point? They must be up to 3 or 4.

Last August the sofa bed at SSR was NOT made up, it was as shown in the photos. There were no linens for it anywhere in the room. Had to call Housekeeping for linens, then they seemed suspicious about my claim that there were no linens.

At AKV the next week the sofa bed was already made, with a nice mattress pad and everything! At SSR they just gave us the sheet to put directly on the mattress.

At AKV there was a blanket in the armoire. I think the pillows were on a shelf in the closet.

If the linens are on the bed when you unfold it, how do you know they are fresh? What if they were left over from the last guest and mousekeeping just did not strip the bed?

I would rather make it myself with fresh linens.

Yeah, I thought about that. But at AKV the sheets were tucked in VERY neatly, not wrinkly, etc. If somebody else had used them then they took extreme care in re-making the bed when they left!

The one at VWL was great but you could feel every coil (or whatever they are made of) at SSR. Will never do a stuido at SSR again.

I see your point, but usually you can tell. And besides, you could say that about any bed in any room ? How do u know any bed has been stripped and has fresh linen in reality ?

Our SSR was NOT a memory foam matress. The one at VWL, yes it was. That is why we were totally shocked after moving resorts and found this one to be so uncomfortable since it is a newer resort. But, with my luck or lack there of, it doesn't surprise me if we got the one room in the entire resort with a lackluster matress.

Funny...DS HATED the sofa bed at VWL (old style & saggy) but it WAS made up when we got there (and it was late so thank goodness it was made). As was our sofabed at AKV was made up last year. He liked the mattress on it a little better...but there was no place to put the cushions except under the bed (we were in a value). Going down this May for our first visit to an SSR studio...I will have to remember to check it ASAP when we get there so I don't get a surprise at bedtime! Wonder why not all properties are the same as far as mousekeeping making the sofabeds or not. That's weird IMO. All members should receive the same treatment in this regard.

(When we leave to check out we always leave the sofabed open so mousekeeping has no doubt that it was used and knows to change the sheets.)

The sofa beds at SSR have always been very comfortable. They are also easy to open and close. I have to say that the new style sofa bed at BWV is one of the best you don't have to remove any cushions they just fold under. Making it easy in the morning to just fold up the bed back into a couch.

They are so comfortable we came home and purchased the same one, only in a King size, different fabric. The Fabric used for Disney is apparently copyrighted for Disney's use only, but that is the most comfortable sofa ever.
