Sofa bed

Why does DVC consider a sofa bed a proper bed? Has anyone ever slept on one and been comfortable? This is your home away from home after all. I wish more studios had a 2 bed option like Old Key West. We have mostly a party of 3 and none of us are keen on the sofa bed option... Not sure DVC would be worth it, if we have to get a 2 bedroom to stay in Epcot.

I actually find them fine. But I prefer a more harder mattress. I think that the reason they went with those was to give the room a more “living room” feeling...ie” home away from home...so there was a place to sit and hang out.

But, they are beginning to change those overs, Riveria has the new pull down Murphy beds and the renovation at SSR is being done that way.

Eventually, I think they all will.

Sounds like DVC would not be worth it to you. I've stayed on the sofa bed at VGF and thought it was fine. Many people who get the studios are putting kids on the sofa beds.

Like the pp said, they are moving toward Murphy beds, which are real mattresses—very good. The new Renos at AK and OKW have Ethan Allen sofa beds. The quality is excellent. The beds are comfortable and the couch portion is comfortable. They are sturdy too. A good buy. I wouldn’t discount dvc based on the sofa beds.

Yeah unfortunately you are probably right... We just stay in so few hotels but when we do we want our own beds.. We could try Riviera... a Murphy bed seems like a real bed. Maybe just need to save my pennies!

good luck! You won’t regret it. Our dvc bring the family so much joy. Not a day goes by where we don’t talk about dvc in some way.

Sleeper sofas and murphy beds are not for this woman. I will stay in an OKW studio, but only OKW for studios. Neither of us deserve to sleep on the portable bed. And neither of us can sleep if we have to share anything smaller than a king bed. A single queen bed for the two of us is out.

Tend to feel the same way regarding the sofa beds. Have you had a chance to try one of the pull down murphy beds at DRR or SSR? Wondering if those will feel more like a traditional bed.
