soda mugs

Happy New Year everyone!

Can someone please tell me if the mugs are insulated? Do they perhaps have a straw?

I brought one of these type of mugs on our last cruise (not Disney) and filled them in my cabin with my choice of drink with lots of ice and it worked great.

I am considering using the Disney Mug .....if it is insulated... also, does anyone know how many ounces it holds (about???)

The things we worry about for planning THEE vacation!:teeth:

Thanks, Shanno

OH MY GOSH!!! only 34 more days!!!!!!

Thanks, I had to get that out of my system once I saw my countdown clock!!!

Yes, the cruise mug is insulated. It has a double wall and I enjoy my coffee in work every day using my cruise mug! Keeps me in the vacation mood, lol.

I believe the soda program went back to the stickers shortly after the Norwalk outbreaks. For a time they did away with the mugs totally and returned to only the sticker. Once the virus subsided, they introduced the mugs again as an optional add on.

I usually get the soda program for my DD's. They are 18 and 21 now and it is something they get their money's worth out of, lol.

They did away with the stickers altogether for a while and went to just the mug. Since, of course, people didn't always have the mug with them they sold even more soda and made an even bigger profit! The sticker was returned after the Norwalk scare and at that time it was sticker only.
The mugs were added back later on to the present combo plan. I vastly prefer the sticker system since I would never have a mug with me. There is no doubt in my mind I got my 35 dollars worth if I would have been paying 2 dollars a soda otherwise.

We just brought some of those rubbermaid drinking containers and brought them to dinner with us. Near the end of the meal, we just asked the assistant server to help "fill 'em up" with our favorite pop to be taken back to the cabin for late night drinks, etc.

Ok who knows if you have to book through AAA to get the soda program or can you just be a member. Thanksprincess:
You have to book through AAA or have the cruise transferred to them from DCL to get the mug program.

I was thinking about that earlier... wondering if you could get a soda "to go" from dinner- especially if you hadn't actually had a soda WITH the meal.

We booked through AAA for our 11/29/03 cruise and there was a "ticket" in our documents booklet. We tore the ticket out and brought it to the mug counter and got our mugs and stickers.

I also noticed on the cruise that they were not asking to see your sticker if you had a mug. I don't think that is right because some people will do a "two for one" deal, give the mug to one person and the sticker to another. That is not the idea behind the program and that actually is the same thing as stealing. Some people can justify this, I just think it is wrong. They should require a sticker for a soda.

We booked our next cruise while on board and then dropped the ressie down to AAA, we will be getting the soda program for free again for every member of out party...even the little ones that don't drink soda!

I was able to purchase the mug without the soda program. It was $3.00. I did not try to get it filled with soda. If you just have to show the mug, do returning cruisers bring their mugs and get free soda, or do they change the mugs frequently?

I don't know how often they change mugs, but we've seen at least 3 different mugs over the years (each style available in several colors.)
