Sock-line rash - I know there was a thread about this!

I got the same rash when I did the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer last year. Look up "Golfer's Vasculitis". That's what the rash is called.

I got the "Disney" rash last time we visited. I actually blamed it on the water from the popeye ride over at IOA as we had been there that day and I noticed the rash back at the hotel in the evening. Sorry bout that IOA!! ;)

This time we are going on Dec so it probably won't be as warm, so we'll see if I get it again. If I do I guess it is to do with all the extra walking!

Claire :)

The first time I got this hideous rash on my lower legs (no socks) I went to the First Aid station in Epcot - near the Odyssey Center. I was told by the practitioner on duty that it was a common malady that was an allergic reaction to the cement pavement. It lasted for our entire trip and even another week or so after returning home. On my next trip, I made sure that I never sat on the pavement to watch fireworks or parades, not sit on the edge of cement walls, etc. and I had no reaction. However, I forgot and the following trip I sat Indian fashion to watch Illuminations and wham....the rash appeared (much milder than my first bout). Nowadays I usually wear light weight slacks and never had it happen again.

I have gotten this the last two years but only after a really full day of walking. I can tell when it is coming on because my legs start to tingle. The rash does not itch and it is red and splotchy but smooth just between the knees and ankles. The first year I got it I blamed it on the smoke from Illuminations but then read the Golfer Vasculitis thread and knew that was what I had. I got it last year after spending the whole day at Hollywood studios and then walking back from there to boardwalk.

I've found I only get it if I go on a water ride during the trip.

By the way, WOWZA at the ancient thread!

I too, suffer from it. Every trip. Tried wearing some sunscreen on the legs, but it made not much difference.
I made sure I had time to sit every day, and that helps. Or get my feet up while back in room resting, that helps. About a week after being home it goes away , every trip. :surfweb:

I had this issue (posted about it back in '04 earlier in this thread!!) many times. I found it is the golfers vasculitis. My doctor kept telling me is psoriasis or eczema...I finally brought her in photos I had taken on my latest trip!! She showed other doctors and they said the same thing. I finally found the golfers vasculitis info...printed it out for her. She was amazed!!!!
The thing of it is this...this happens to primarily females, who are over 40, are fair skinned and tend to be a bit, how shall I say this....um, 'fluffy'!! I fit all those paramters. While I am only about 15-20 pounds 'fluffy', it still is enough to impact me.
Well.....on one visit to the doctor about 2 years ago, I mentioned that it happened again. The doctor got this sickly shade of white, took out my file and just said...'OMG....your blood pressure meds are contributing to this!!!' Now, why she never saw that before I'll never know. But, I changed the meds and it happens very seldom now.

It makes no difference if I wear socks, pants, sunscreen...sit on the ground, pavement. It's all the same to me.

Though I have 3 1/2 of the f's (only slightly heavy), I have not gotten this. My mom has, and she is much paler than I am (but slim).

I just find it interesting that the 4 f's that often describe victims of this rash are the same "f's" of patients with gall bladder problems/stones. I have had my gall bladder out. Still hoping I never get this rash!

oh good. this thread is from 2004.

wonderful.

I feel so bright today, NOT!:surfweb:
