SoCal weather!

Hey ChrisMouse!

I live in SD but from what I have been watching, its supposed to stop raining cats and dogs in SoCal by Saturday. I think the last storm is supposed to come through on Friday and break up by Saturday so I think you should be fairly good. Don't quote me on this as you mentioned, it keeps changing, but I'm pretty sure this is when the last storm is supposed to roll through. Hope you have a great time! :cool1:

Rowan

Guess we are in for a real experience for our first day at DL on Friday.

Hey everybody...thanks for the information.

The pictures I'm seeing are so awful...I hope you locals are all ok!

Tell me this. Our plane lands in San Diego on Friday. We are supposed to do Legoland on Saturday, then go to Anaheim Sunday.

How are the conditions? I am seeing so much coastal flooding, etc. Will it be SAFE for us to continue on with this trip?

I know we may be seeing the most extreme pictures, but it looks so bad!

Chris

We'll be right there with you! I'm going on the prowl for some more rain gear after work today! We'll be those people covered from head to toe and still having a great time :yay: Just hoping that we have decent weather Sat and Sunday! I can do one rainy day but not sure about 3!

Legoland is not really on the coast--it's a fair distance from the coast. You should be safe, damp but safe. Chance of rain/some wind for Friday, current forecast is for clear weather over the weekend (not warm, but clear).

Uh...I beg to differ. Legoland is about 2 miles from the actual OCEAN in Carlsbad. Look at a map... I used to work at the Gemological Institute of America, which is on the same street as Legoland. We had a gorgeous ocean view terrace to eat lunch on.

But anyway, the forecast is showing rain until and through Friday. But, the worst of it is coming tomorrow. You will be safe driving up the 5 from San Diego. Expect some showers in Anaheim on Saturday morning, but the rest of the weekend should be rather nice. A little cool, but tolerable to be in the parks.

Thank you, everyone, SO MUCH!

It's VERY hard to get the "real" scoop from the outside.

On our news, it looks like California is TOAST. We get lots of footage of the mudslides, flooding, and waterspouts...all of which sounds and looks scary! :scared1:

I'm glad to hear this crazy weather should calm down by the time we get there Friday night (8:30ish).

I really appreciate the insight!! :flower3:

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry!

It is coming down in big, heavy buckets right now (in Los Angeles). Loud, endless buckets!! This is the sort of weather where even a slicker or poncho will barely keep you dry. It is "torrential," as the news people warned us it would be!

The news just said there will be sustained winds of 25 - 45 mph in Los Angeles and other counties in SoCal, but there will be damaging gusts up to 75 mph!!!:scared1:

Here we go with ROUND THREE...Mon was bad, Tues was horrible, Wed is bad....:sad2:

BUT to all those headed this way, BRIGHT SUN is scheduled for Sat and Sun.....so there is some hope on the horizon.

Hang in there, everyone.

I am moving to San Diego in a month and we will be living near LegoLand. I decided to check out their website just now and there is a notice big as life, "WE WILL BE CLOSED, THURSDAY, JAN 21st DUE TO THE WEATHER"....:sad1:

Yup, it is still bad here. It has to end. Soon, please. And they call this GLOBAL WARMING?

And they call this GLOBAL WARMING?
Ironic, isn't it, that global warming causes an increase in rain. I believe that's due to the increased amount of energy in the oceans.

DH just called as he was leaving his office. He told me that the area of the parking lot where he parks is sloped towards the curb. He had to get wet up to his ankle just to get into his car. Fun.

And tomorrow is supposed to be the bad day?? sigh......

How is everyone doing today in SoCal?

Wet, dark and dreary in NB but no winds and not currently raining.

Um, "coming down in buckets" is not adequate enough at the moment...

There is a Flash Flood Warning for southern O.C. I honestly hope Disneyland just closed today. Really...it's ridiculous.

I'll be good as long as there aren't any more tornado warnings! :scared1:

Right now it is raining cats and dogs in L.A. So Orange County is next! It is very heavy rain and blustery wind.

Ok, DISer's, the sun is shining bright in Newport Beach!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure how long it will last BUT it is OUT and SHINING!!! :sunny:

Yeah, it was shining here in Irvine too, for about 15 min. Now there is a very low, dark, cloud cover and super windy conditions. Looks like it's 6pm...

:sad2:... Actually, the sun is now gone, still bright out but clouds are moving in and rapidly. :sad2:

So..I was feelin' pretty ok about our trip because Accuweather DID say sunny & 69 on Feb 3 (day we arrive)...now it says cloudy & 65. And Feb 4 says "Considerable Cloudiness" ..that just SOUNDS daunting!!

I'm just so worried the storm will go away & then come back!! :sad1:
