Planning our first trip to Disneyland with a 4 and 5 year old. We are interested in the City Pass for the variety. It is my understanding that the City Pass is a booklet of vouchers that you exchange at the park. It is also my understanding that others have upgraded the 3 day hopper to additional hopper days.

My question is can I get a 5 day 1 park per day ticket and just pay the difference between that and the 3 day hopper? Disney lists the 3 day hopper at $250 and the 5 day 1 park per day ticket at $260. For $10 more a ticket I would rather have 2 more days in the park even if it is not a hopper! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

DW and I bought these last year. It is not a voucher book, but rather more like a gift card. You present it at the gate of each park. At Disney, once they swiped it, they actually gave us a separate ticket to use for the remaining days.

I don't remember if we got separate tickets at Universal and Sea World. I want to say they just swiped the card and that was our ticket for the day.

As far as upgrading; yes you can upgrade the ticket.

This is from the City Pass site:
You may upgrade your 3-Day Park Hopper® at Disneyland within 30 days of first use. Speak to a representative at the ticket booths and they will get a manager to approve this. Disneyland will give you a $250 credit for an adult and a $235 credit for youth ages 3-9 towards the upgrade of your choice.

DW and I are going back this year and this is the ticket we plan to buy again. It is the best deal for the money.
