Palo men's dinner attire dress shorts?

Definite no to shorts in Palo Dinner.

Right from DCL:

Adult-exclusive restaurants aboard Disney Cruise Line ships are elegant dining experiences. Guests are requested to dress in a manner consistent with the restaurant’s atmosphere. Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Also permitted is dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. For brunch at Palo and Palo Steakhouse, dress shorts are acceptable. Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire are not permitted. Adults-only restaurants throughout the Disney Cruise Line fleet include:

We were on Magic out of Galveston last month and were enjoying the brunch one day. A couple came in to the restaurant wearing exercise clothes. The staff hesitated for a moment (I was facing the entry) then seated them. Over the course of the meal it was evident that they were more and more self conscious. A small part of me felt sorry for them.

I am definitely in the minority here because I love "dress shorts" and I own several pairs. I wore my "dress shorts" on our Merry Time cruise last year for Palo Brunch. I thought I looked great and my wife said I looked good too. That's all I really care about and I'm not breaking any dress code rules. I am in my mid 30s and a ton of men my age do not even wear dress shoes. We wear our fancy sneakers, like Jordans, with our dress pants and dress shirt. I don't even think I own a pair of dress shoes anymore.

Bermuda shorts. Hem about an inch above the knee. Cultural ignorance is no excuse for thinking something doesn't exist.

There are no shorts that are appropriate for a top end restaurant. It's simply not appropriate. Sorry. That's a fact.

Clothing is a subjective way to communicate meaning and much like language, the way we use it can change over time. I'm sure Jay Gatsby thinks whatever you wear to Palo is shabby and Mr. Darcy thinks whatever Gatsby wears is shabby and Louis XIV thinks Darcy is shabby and so on. When you start a cruise line you can make whatever dress code you like. Until then, maybe just let people enjoy things.

There's no such thing as dress shorts.

The real question is have is, will Disney refuse to seat you?

Because if there are no consequences for violating the dress code, who cares?

I have no doubt Cunard would refuse to seat you...

Yes, they will turn you away at dinner. I necro'd the thread to talk about shorts at brunch, and they'd better seat me, since the dress code says shorts are okay at brunch.

By definition shorts are casual. I don't care what BBs says. That's marketing. Draw strings are for gym shorts and pajamas. Gap? That's rich.
