I have a friend who lives in So. Cal and she knows I am going to DLR in Dec. She offered to buy the SoCal annual pass for us, knowing that we will go to DLR again and would do it more often if we had an AP. She would buy the passes and then we would go to DLR in Dec. But, I am concerned, we live in Utah, not SoCal and would not have ID for that area.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I would hate to spend the money and then not be able to use the pass. Do I need to have ID in order to get my picture taken for the pass?

Thanks. It's not sent in stone - I just need to be able to think this through.

You do have to show ID.

In case you're interested, there's a Deluxe AP deal that saves you $30.

Or if she's willing to spend the full amount of APs up front, and belongs to Costco, southern CA Costcos are selling Deluxe AP vouchers, and when you exchange the vouchers you get a $50 gift card for each AP.

Sorry, this won't work for you. They will ask for your ID when you go to process the AP's. Go with the link Bumber provided, that will get you the best deal on a good AP. :)

They definitely check ID or "a current bill statement". I bought my AP online last year, and when I went to have my picture taken, they almost didn't let me because the address on my ID is old (from Northern Cali) and I didn't know to bring anything else as proof. DB just told them I'd recently moved in with him, and showed them his ID instead :rotfl:

(Not that I would recommend trying that!)

Thanks everyone for the answers. I was hopeful, but not set on the idea, since I thought that would be the case. It's too bad, too, because we would use that AP the most. We never go on Saturdays and never in the summer, so it would have worked really well. It was also cheaper than the Costco option and would have saved a bit of money. :confused3 Oh well!

But...aren't I, as a SoCal resident, able to buy SoCal APs for my family when they come from out of state? Then it wouldn't matter where they lived right? Someone needs to call ticket booth and get the 411.:confused3

But when you get the picture taken is when they ask for ID. I gave my valid SoCal address and zip when I purchased them online, but they didn't ask till after I got into the park to get the picture. Unfortunately :(

Dang!!! Just talked to the ticket booth. Can't do it. How dumb is that? The person holding the pass would have to upgrade.:sad2:

The APs are designed for park guests who will return to Disneyland multiple times within a 365 day window as opposed to those guests who will confine their visit to the parks with a 1-2week window. The APs offer those discounts as a benefit to those guests who visit multiple times a year instead of once a year. For those guests who will not be making multiple visits a year, Disney is going to put them on the same price footing as everyone else.
