Soaring--should i ride?

You don't even realize you're up high - honest!

I get motion sickness and there are three times I get a little bit dizzy: the opening sequence over the Golden Gate Bridge, taking off from the aircraft carrier in San Diego Bay and over the nighttime freeway in Los Angeles. I get just a little light-headed, but not enough to cause a problem. It is the best ride in any theme park - not to be missed!

You will be fine. I thought the same thing before I even attempted to go on Soarin. When I finally worked the nerve to go on, I realized I was making a bigger fuss than I should have.

Just don't look down! I have a fear of heights and never had a problem with Soarin'. It is a favorite. But a couple of trips ago I made the mistake of looking down toward the far edge where the CMs were. Yikes - I had no idea I was up that high (it really isn't that high, it just shocked me).

I have not been on since - part fear but mainly because of a child who was not tall enough to ride yet. This last trip my daughter was tall enough to ride - and I was going to ride - but my older daughter and I did not make it there in time before closing. My husband and my baby rode it together... while we my eldest and I waited outside. We missed it by about two minutes. :(

I will ride it again. It is worth overcoming my fear, the ride is that good.

Ya wont know till ya try! Its my favorite.
I guess if you dont feel we you can look away.

Dh cant ride Star Tours but Soarin' doesn't bother him.

Well, my fiance gets terrible motion sickness. He CANT go on Star tours, it kills him. It makes him very very sick. but he loves soarin. I didnt like it because I am terrified of hieghts but its just an illusion, your not up very high. I think you have a good idea in doing it last part of the day, but California Adventure usually closes way before Dland so you may just want to skip it all together if your medication makes you drowsy. But, either way, you are going to have a blast!! Disney magic is so wonderful, you are going to have such a great time, I am excited for you!! :rotfl:

please take whatever medication you would normally use to prevent motion sickness. I too suffer from terrible motion sickness and made the huge mistake of riding Soaring without my meds the first time. I was sick for a full two hours.

Now I take my pills before coming to the park everyday so I have no problems on any of the rides. It is a great ride and well worth seeing but not worth feeling ill for. Since we are all very different you just won’t know until you ride so why take the risk.

Have a great trip.

THANK YOU so much everyone! thank you very much for all of your opinions. i feel so much better reading all of your posts. i can't take Star Tours either, or any of the roller costers. i plan to ride soaring this time around. i will stick with my plan of making it the last thing i do and i will take my meds. i take Dramamine. it has always worked for me. i can't wait for my trip! i look forward to soaring and the pirates at tom sawyer's island(i havn't gone over there with the pirates yet) thanks again! :)

Talk to your doctor about getting a transdermscope patch. It a very small patch that goes behind the ear. My wife has sever motion sickness and this patch allows her to ride everything... including the teacups.

But she would ride Soarin' without it.

I get very motion sick but Soarin' is one of my favorite rides. My family had to beg and cajole me to get on, and I was SO scared I was going to get sick, but really it's very, very enjoyable. Gentle, pleasant...just pretty much awesome. :)
