Hello Eveyone!

as you can see from my post count, i am new to the boards. i am not sure if this question has been asked. i am sure it has at one time, but i am not sure where to find it. my question is, should i ride soaring? i have not ridden it due to being to scared i will get sick on it. i have fairly bad motion sickness. it sucks! :( but i have heard so many good things about the ride. my brother thinks i shouldn't. he says he doesn't want me to get sick. i was thinking about taking so motion sickness medicine and making it the last thing i do that day. any opinions would be great. thank you very much.

One rarely hears about motion sickness on Soarin. It is so gentle and smooth. I have problems with Star Tours and will not ride it anymore, but Soarin is nothing like that.

Soarin is Disney imagineering at its best - a completely unique and overwhelming experience. My vote is that the risk of sickness is so low and the ride is so good, that you give it a try. I hope you do. :)

I too get motion sickness....I did Soarin many times last year and didn't have a problem. It does give you the "flying" sensation and there were a few times I turned away but it wasn't that bad. I would say try it.....if you feel motion sickness come on simply turn your head away, whatever you do, don't close your eyes, that makes it worse on me anyway. I just look to the side. The good thing about it is there is constantly a breeze on you. The ride is really short too so that helps. If you're really worried about it though it might be a good idea to save it till the end of the day. I went on a ride last week with my son (not at DL) and I was sick the rest of the day. I just can't handle rides like I used to.......it stinks! Good luck and enjoy your trip.

If you get motion sick "very" easily I wouldn't ride it as the experience is pretty realistic. You end up going up and over mountains and your stomach will drop. If you were to take motion sickness pills and make it through that would be cool. It is a very good ride.
I don't have a problem with motion sickness but I could see where if someone does have a problem with it, that ride, along with others could aggrevate the stomach.

Make it the last thing you do so if you do get sick it won't really matter. Also, if you get sick then try to focus on the horizon (but you already knew that, I bet).

I vote for riding it. I personally don't get motion sickness, but my MIL does. She can't ride Star Tours, any of the coasters, or Splash. She does very well on Soarin' and it's her favorite ride ever now! I vote getting a Fastpass and using it at the end of your day, just in case. To me it's a must-see ride!

I am also sensitive to motion sickness and have a real fear of heights, but I love Soarin. The first time I rode it I was nervous and even now I admit I hold on to the side bars, lol, but it's fine.

I think you should give it a go, and maybe save it for last like you said.

If you don't at least try it once, I think you'll regret it and always wonder what it would have been like. kwim?

I would say take the medicine!!! But, in all actuality you can propably manage. My mom is terrified of roller coasters because she has motion sickness but she has been able to handle Star Tours on occasion. (She hasn't been there since Soarin' opened...) I would just say take the chance on this one. It is AWESOME!!! But avoid Tower of Terror...lol...

I would say ride it as it is such a gentle ride. My mom is the type of person who gets motion sickness SOOO easily, like she cant ride as a passenger in the car cause she will be sick. But her favorite ride in either park is Soarin'. She feels great on it and does not get sick for one moment during the ride.

I would go for it. It's a very gentle ride. Although sometimes I find the Los Angeles scene to be a bit camera shaky. Another plus: The music. Amazing music to go along with an amazing ride.

i get bad motion sickness too - soarin' is fine.

Just do it - its a wonderful ride.

--especially since you know you are prone to motion sickness. No sense in leaving the door open to potential sickness when there's a clear solution in sight. Take the meds, ride Soaring.:dance3:

I am very prone to motion sickness, car sickness, along with a fear of heights! Great combo for theme parks, huh? But, I've never been sick on anything. Although was slightly queasy after Star Tours.
Anyway, we rode Soarin' at WDW two years ago. I was nervous about it, but it didn't make me sick at all. I think the key is that YOU are moving, too - not much, though - like a big porch swing. It's not like those movies where you sit still and the movie makes you only "feel" like you're moving.
I'd definitely ride it - this turned out to be one of our favorite rides. A great experience.

You should go on it. I get motion sickness very easily and pretty much have no problem on this ride. I only start feeling a little motion sickness during the last city scene. I simple close my eyes or look away. It is such a short scene anyway and right at the end of the ride, so it doesn't matter!

You should experience this attraction!

My daughter gets carsick very easily SM got her but Soarin' didn't bother her at all. I also vote for riding it at the end of the day and then see how you feel.

I'm motion sick prone and have ridden Soarin' twice. The first time I was in the middle row and felt a little more motion than the second time on the bottom row. I didn't get motion sickness either time, but definitely felt more grounded on the bottom.

It is my favorite ride in DCA. It is so worth taking a little motion sickness medicine! You will love it.

I've chickened out the last several times. Each time I say I'm going to ride it! But then I get in front of the ride and say "Ummm, maybe I'll do some shopping while you guys go!" LOL I hate being such a chicken, but I'm afraid of hieghts and can get motion sickness!

I suffer really badly from motion sickenss (to the point where I actually wear the travel sickness bands when I visit theme parks) and I have ridden Soarin without sickness prevention medication. I would definately go on it (I plan to in the summer!!)

I am pretty prone ot motion-sickness and find as long as I keep my eyes pretty much straight ahead and don't look to the periphery of the screen I do great. If I start following action that we are "passing" I get a bit woozy!!

I get woozy on a child's swing set, so I am sensitive. But I DO ride Soarin' every trip!!!!!:cheer2:
