We just got back from an amazing trip to DLR from 12/14 - 12/18.

This was our first trip being able to see the new Soarin' Around the World and I have to say I was a bit disappointed in it.

If you sat in A or C to ride the attraction the film was curved so anything tall like the Eiffel Tower or Taj Majal were all leaning which was just strange to me. I also found that the CGI between scenes seemed force.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same?

Thanks

Agree on the curvature issue. Disconcerting and not anything I noticed in the previous version.

I didn't notice the CGI stuff so its a non-issue for me.

I found Soarin' Over California to gbe just OK and it was never a must do.
I went on Soarin' Around The World at Epcot in September and OMG it is no an absolute must do!
I went on it 3 times in 24 hours!
The first time I rode I was lucky enough to get in the middle section of seats and I was hooked so the other two times I rode I was not terribly disappointed by the curvature.
I'll be going back to WDW in April and to DLR in June and can't wait to ride!
I do like that you go to your "home" park at the end.

Agree with the curve problems. There was much less of a feeling of hang gliding than with the original film. I would have also preferred if they only included places around the world that were not already represented in World Showcase. For example, I might have eliminated the Great Wall and Eiffel Tower but added St. Petersburg's onion domes and Santorini Island.

But you have to remember that the other parks that the ride is in does not have a World Showcase.

We loved it. LOVED IT!!! I we even loved the CGI - especially the elephant scene. I can do that part alone over and over.

The curvature part when we sat on the side was a little weird, but it really only bothered me in Paris. And I dare not say anything lest Disney takes Soarin' offline for umpteenth time in the last two years.

Only have seen it at WDW but yes, I'm underwhelmed with the quality when there's such bends in the picture. Also, don't love the animal CGI - it caught my attention right away.

Guess I'm in the minority because I absolutely loved Soarin'! We rode it three times our last trip.

I did notice the curvature issue but really only in the Paris scene.

There's a thread already running on this:

Hopefully, they will eventually create a new Soarin Over California film, but give it the Star Tours treatment with random destinations, but no 3D. Skip any CGI additions as well.

I didn't like it at all. I would prefer the one that showcased California. Since the park is California Adventure, why not bring back the old one and just spruce it up and make sure everything is in working order? It's okay for parks to have their own special touch on rides, or even better, different rides. This makes people want to visit the other parks too when there are rides only in that one Disney Park.

They actually did this already. They were still showing the old movie with essentially brand new equipment for several months before the switch over to the new movie. They needed to wait for Shanghai DL to open.

Bummed to read here that the curve problem is just as bad at DCA as it was for us at Epcot a few months ago. We were seated in the last 3 seats next to the wall. I will ask to wait for center next time, just to see it without the distortion.

Less distortion. The videos aren't centered and the objects are too big. It's always there to come degree.
