hello.....we have heard that soarin is a lot of fun and we can't wait to go on it...the problem is that someone in our group gets motion sickness....is this going to be a problem?

Well, they will be watching a very large screen, and it will feel like your flying, but I would think most people would be ok. If they can handle an airplane, I would say they could handle this.

The ride is awesome, we rode it 3 times during our last trip.

My DH has motion sickness and it didn't affect him at all...It really just gives you this wonderful "I'm flying" feeling. I love Soarin!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

My DH is the same way, and didn't get sick. I went to see O Canada in Circlevision, and was much more affected by that than by Soarin'. It isn't very long, either.
If you feel yourself getting overwhelmed, just look to the edge of the screen, which is easy to see from the 3rd (bottom) row.

Soarin' is very gentle. If your group member starts feeling sick, just tell them to close thier eyes and enjoy the gentle swaying of the vehicle.

It's an awesome ride, and you shouldn't miss it! Have fun!! ::MickeyMo

I have terrible motion sickness...lots of things set it off, but Soarin' was just fine. I had no problems at all. I love Soarin'!!!

It's a little spooky if you let yourself be drawn into the attraction. If you consciencely remind yourself it's only an attraction and that you're just tilting back and forth then nobody should get motion sickness.

However, I kind of "zoned" into the ride and found myself holding on for dear life!! It was a hoot. I loved it.

My favorite ride in WDW. Have fun!

I get car sick, air sick, and if I don't take something while cruising, sea sick.....Soarin' absolutely ROCKS.....didn't bother me at all!

I may be the odd one here, but Soarin made me a little quesy. Nothing major and I was fine in about 15-20 mintues afterwards, but I was not feeling well when we got off!!

I loved it...but yeah...it got to me a little.

I do get motion sickness from the motion simulator rides, riding in the car and some other rides. Space Mountain bothers me a bit, but Big Thunder and Splash do not. Can't ride the teacups and will never go on Mission Space.

I was actually going to sit out of Soarin with DS5 while DH and DD went on the ride. As we walked into the entrance, DS5 said, "Bye mom, I'm going on the ride." Well, I was more worried about DH supervising both of them and one of them getting hurt, so I forced myself to go, fretting the whole time we stood in line.

Am I glad I went. This is my favorite ride (whole family's favorite ride). There were a couple spots on the ride that made me close my eyes and I didn't get the butterflies in my tummy, but no real motion sickness and no lasting effects. There is air blowing gently into your face that tends to help with motion sickness and the ride is not too long so that helps too.

I have to agree with the majority ... my DW gets terrible motion sickness and was reluctant but wasn't affected at all. And speaking for myself ...
it is not a ride or an attraction but a religious experience!
I love absolutely everything at WDW but Soarin', hands down, is my all time favorite! (did I mention it's a religious experience?!) :goodvibes

I did not like Soarin at all, and not just for the 2 hour wait that I had to endure. It is smooth, but still to me, I got a bad headache...and I didnt get sick on Mission: Space, or any other symptoms either.

I will not do Space Mountain, Mission Space, the teacups and any other rides that go in circles or might make one sick ... I get car sick and seasick but Soarin was wonderful. Absolutely love it.

They will be fine! My family and I rode Soarin twice this past Thursday and we all loved it! My 9 year old daughter gets motion sickness, and had no problems at all! It is a GREAT ride! Be sure to get a fastpass as the wait time is LONG! The fastpasses Thursday were gone by 3:30!!!!

My DS8 gets queasy very easily in a car, etc-yet he was perfectly fine on Soarin'! Enjoy!

My mother and aunt were both very much bothered by Soarin. They had nasuea and both said it really bothered their eyes.

My husband can't ride Dumbo, but Soarin' didn't bother him! :earsboy:

I think it really depends on the person and how adventurous they are willing to be while on vacation.

My mother has vertigo and she rode Soarin' with no problems. She cannot ride simulators but she chose to try Soarin'. She really enjoyed it. I usually do not do well on simulator rides. I rode Soarin' and was really happy I did. I had no problems whatsoever during or after the ride. My DBF has pretty bad motion sickness. He can't even ride the carousel without a problem. He rode with me and said that it bothered him a little but not enough to ruin the ride. He wasn't nauseous, just a tiny bit dizzy. We walked off the ride slowly down that long hallway and by the time we got to the doors to go outside he was fine. He also really enjoyed the ride and was willing to ride it again if I wanted.

I hope they chose to ride, it was really an experience.

I am motion sickness phobic so I was afraid of Soarin'. The first time I went on it, I had my eyes closed for the first 1/2 and every time the "scene changed" I closed my eyes. When I got off the ride, I realized how much I liked the parts I watched and the next time I rode it, I kept my eyes open. I then really liked the ride. So, we went another time and now.........I love the ride!!! Please, give it a try!! :flower:

on Soarin? Would it be appropriate for my girls (ages 3, 5, 7)? My DD (7) saw it on the planning DVD, and really wants to try it!

Which park is it in?

TIA!!:wave2
