Does anyone have details about the new attraction, SoarIn? Will it be open by the first week of November? I understand it is in the location at EPOCT that use to house food rocks??? but I'm not sure. Is it another 3-D attraction? Any info would be appreciated.

I think it like the one in California. A Simulated ride.

Otherwise if it is like SuperMan at Great America, Holy Cow! It was the smoothest roller-coaster I've ever been on. They seat tips face down after you get on and you ride it like you are flying.

I understand that it will be similar to "Soarin' Over California" at Disney's California Adventure. You get in seats that are then hoisted up in rows and suspended like you are riding a hang glider in front of an IMAX screen. The views are spectacular and you feel like you are "soaring" over the landscapes complete with scents to match the scenes.

It is a great ride! The signs at The Land list it as "Soarin" so I wonder if the movie will be different from the California one...

The film will be identical to the one used in the DCA version. Rather than a military/air force look, the costumes and queue area for the FL version will be themed more to a commercial airline look.
Soarin' is being touted (like Mission:Space and Tower of Terror) as an attraction that can easily be reprogrammed with a new ride film and sequence to keep it fresh.

Soarin' is scheduled to open Spring of 2005 with a grand opening on or around May 5.

"Soarin'" will not be inside the current Land building, so no ... it will not be occupying the space left vacant by "Food Rocks." It will be housed in its very own ride building, which is being built back behind the Land.

Soarin' Over California will open at the Land in 2005.

The ride will send guests on a sweeping fly-over above the Golden State for a birds-eye view of the rich landscape and topography. Soarin' Over California will complement the Land pavilion's agriculture and ecology theme. The attraction will feature cinematic artistry combined with state-of-the-art motion base technology. Guests will be lifted 40 feet inside a giant projection screen dome and completely surrounded with the beauty and wonder of the state of California, as their elevated theater seats take them on a scenic tour over Golden Gate Bridge, the Redwood forests, Napa Valley, Yosemite, and more. The free-flight experience intensifies as guests feel the sweeping winds and smell fragrant orange blossoms and pine trees around them.

Soarin' Over California currently appears at Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim, California.

This is an amazing attraction! My "new" favorite at DLR!

DW & I agree this is the single best attraction we've ever experienced at a Disney theme park, or any other theme park for that matter!

Soaring is awesome. I only got to ride it once, but WOW!

My understanding is that Soaring is a gift to WDW from DL in honor of DL's 50th anniversary. The film will fly the guests over California, just like the one at California Adventure. But California is a beautiful state with lots of cool landscapes.

I asked if the film would ever be changed and a CM said probably at some point.

I had the opportunity to ride soarin at DCA a couple of years ago and loved it. It is a perfect ride for EPCOT. It is thrilling to seem like you are flying over California, but very gentle and smooth so everyone will like it. (no M:S bags will be needed ;)

We Also loved Soarin at DCA went on it like 6 time or so

When we went to DCA opening Day...

just great attraction......

The queue area for Soarin' will occupy the former Food Rocks theater.

Question for Safari Steve: So, I take it that Food Rocks is gone forever? and will somehow show up in the boneyard of the backlot of MGM Studios next to the old movie props?

Soarin' Over CA was my favorite attraction at DCA. We must have rode it 6 times on our visit there. I am happy that EPCOT will have this addition!!!

Soarin' is an absolutely amazing ride. What's so cool about the California ride, is that you can smell different things such as oranges, the redwood trees. It actually feels like you're there. It should turn out to be an amazing ride.

Soarin' is an absolutely incredible ride. I went on it in DCA about two years ago, and , as others have said, it is amazing! I an gald that they are adding it to Epcot, because it is a great experience!

The attraction at DCA is absolutely everything Disney does best. It's innovative, has a thrill element to it that is not extreme, and you come away with a new perspective on the subject matter. The only thing it lacks is a really catchy song, although the music is nicely done.

We'll be there April 21-24th. Does anyone think they'll be a soft opening by then?

The grand opening is supposed to be on or around May 5 (5/5/05) so it's possible there will be a soft opening towards the end of April. No guarantees, though.
