Hi all :goodvibes

Have been many times but for the life of me cannot remember where is the best place to sit on soarin? Opinions please:thumbsup2. Also is it frowned upon to wait for the ideal spot or just accept what u get? Going in 16 days so aware it's going to be very busy:scared1:

Sx

some say it's better to go at the top (front row) so that you don't see other people's feet. TBH any place will do for me. Once it starts I'm flying, I don't care if other people fly with me :)

I don't see why it would be frowned upon to wait for a specific place.
On the guest side, you actually let someone overtake you in line, so no issue here, and on the CM side it's very frequent, at many rides, to ask for a specific place/car/row.
Worst case scenario, the CM tells you that it's not possible ... well better luck next time :)

Its quite funny we call Soaring Snoring we found it to be ok the 1st time we rode it but other then that not very good

I will always ask to be seated in row 1 and we are willing to wait to do so - never been told no.

Personally as both DH and myself are tall we find the feet in front detract from the experience. :goodvibes

We prefer the front row too but, depending how busy it is, we don't always ask to wait.

On a related note, has anybody noticed how badly the film needs a refurb? I found the black spots and 'crackling' on the screen really detracted from the experience last time. I could have sworn the 'smells' weren't as strong either :confused3

One of our favourite rides in Orlando, so immersive and the musical score is beautiful. We always go on it at least twice the day we visit Epcot.

Go there first thing, grab a fast pass then get in the queue, middle of the front row are the best in my opinion but you will have a great ride in any seat!

one of my fav rides as well. We usually go with the flow and just sit where they put us the first time we do it, then when we ride it again we always ask for the front row, don't mind where on the front row. But yes agree the print is getting a tad tatty but thought the Oranges were strong smelling last time, so they must have filled that one up:)

Strangely in all the times we have been on it we have never once been in the back row.

It seemed to be a free-for-all when we went in November. People just milled about and went for their favourite seat.:confused3
I loved the ride.

This is mine and DH favorite ride. It's traditionally the last ride of the holiday for us. We ride it lots (well as many times as is feasible and possible) whilst we're there and then just 1 last time before we leave and drive to MCO. It's also traditional for me to bawl my eyes out and cry all the way through :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

The first time we rode it, we all spontaneously applauded when the ride was over - we were really impressed.

I think most seats are decent enough we have always managed to sit at the front but on each occasions we had good sits, I think our best were at the top for us as we couldn't see anyone's feet!

The film does need something doing with it. It might just be that the film reel needs a good clean, it is used often enough. What does surprise me though is the fact that they are actually using film, now that most projection films are digital! Sounds a bit strange....maybe the Soarin' footage was actually captured on film and damaged before it could be digitised.....We all know that Disney likes to re-use things. I found out the other day that the parades use DMTF tones to synchronise the music and effects! What next, are they going to break out the 9.6k baud modem? As much as I love Disney, I feel that they haven't kept up with the times as much as they could have. I remember watching Fantasmic in 1998 and being amazed that such a projection system could exist and then was amazed even more by the induction motors that powered Rockin' Roller coaster. Now, OK they can turn Spaceship Earth into a giant Mike Wachowski or however you spell it, but it just doesn't seem as amazing. Maybe it's because I am older.....or a bit less of a geek! I should be an imagineer, I would sort them out!

Top Middle, if i can, but love the ride, so often is the best way to ride it...

Go during Illuminations, we went three times, finish ride, walk back round for next flight...

:-)

We as a family really love this ride also, and prefer if we can to sit top middle too!

Last trip my 3 boys all said how rubbish the screen was and how the overall effect just wasn't as good as the 1st time they had seen it and they was 7,7 and 10 so if they can see the screen needs cleaning lol I imagine many others can too!

I think that if you rode soaring when it was 1st opened & even for the first few years after that before it became dirty/tatty then you notice it way more then others who have just seen it for the 1st time!
It used to be so captivating & magical now I find it distracting as I'm looking at all the spots and marks :(

Does anyone know how high you get off the ground from each row? My son is scared of heights, but insists he really wants to try it this year. May calm his nerves if i can say 'well this row is only X feet from the ground'.

If you have a smaller child and they don't sit front row are they able to see if an adult sits in front of them?

Yes. The row in front is elevated above you so you'll have a clear view, apart from maybe a couple of feet you'll see dangling.

I;m scared of heights, was very apprehensive in the queue first time, sweaty, feeling sick etc. Once the projection started, i forgot all about height and just enjoyed the experience. Remember to dodge the golf ball....
