Soarin' While Pregnant?

Hi everyone!

I am going to Disney World this May and will be about 6 months pregnant. Last time I went to Disney, Soarin' was not open yet so I really want to ride it this time! Is this ride okay to ride while pregnant? I don't see any "expectant mothers should not ride" warnings on the WDW site description, but of course want to play it safe!

If not, guess I will just have to start planning another future trip...oh darn!

If you don't see the sign (and I can't remember if there is a sign warning pregnant mothers should not ride) then go for it. I think the ride is almost magical.

The soarin ride really does not move except at the beginning and end when it moves up and then down and it's so slow as to be almost unnoticed. It's entirely visual so it should have no effect on anyone physically. Your perception is that you are flying, when in reality you are not. If you are uncomfortable with heights, then just close your eyes and the effect goes away entirely.

This is unlike Mission Space where you actually are spinning around and closing your eyes just makes things worse.

I went this past October when i was about 2 and half months preggie and had no problems and saw no warnings for expectant mothers. I would suggest that if you are having any form of motion sickness or are easily nauseated ask for the back room when they seat you and the ride isnot as intense.

I thought you were moving as if in a centrifuge...centrifical force.

No way would I ride this while pregnant. I rode it once, and will never do it again. Not fun for me, my husband, my son, or my father in law.

Your thinking of mission space. For the pregnant mother to be this would be a definite nono, but soarin should be just fine.

Right, you are in fact thinking of MS. I am one to tell EVERYONE pregnant not to do most all attractions.

HOWEVER, this ride is fine for pregnant women. No movement that would cause ANY problems.

I think this ride is safe for a pregnant woman than a ride like Pooh.

The only warnings for Soarin' are for people afraid of heights or with motion sickness.
We rode it about 5 times on our trip earlier this month. It is a very gentle ride; at the beginning of your ride, your ride row is lifted forward and up. At the end, you glide back into the same position you started in. It's all very gentle. If that part bothers you, just close your eyes until you feel no more forward (or backward) motion. During the ride, you are suspended and will feel some gentle movement; the closest I could compare it to would be a porch swing.
