My ds will be just turning 3 when we go in October. I believe he will be tall enough to ride Soarin' but I'm wondering if it will be sensory overload for him. He is a daredevil and doesn't scare too easily. Anyone take a child this young on Soarin'?

Soarin' will be fine for your 3 year old. There is an extra strap that will go between his legs to keep him in place if he is shorter than the logo on the side of the seat.
He will no doubt LOVE this ride and want to go on it many many times!!! :sunny:

I just took my 4yr old niece on it and she loved it. As long as your son meets the height requirement I would take him on it.

This is sort of off topic a bit, but does this ride move through a building (if that makes sense) or is it a sit and watch a movie and the whole seat will move? Thanks for any help!

The seats briefly move forward and up to get you close to the screen and up in the air, and then at the end they'll move back and down.

We took our daughter who was two months shy of 4 on Soarin' in March, and she loved it (she rode it twice). If you think your son has the personality to like this ride (and he meets the height requirement), go for it.

Soarin' is very, very mild. I wouldn't classify as intense in the least. It basically feels like you're on a hang glider. I would figure that most children as long as they're tall enough would have no problems whatsoever on the attraction.

Yep, the height is the key, because the ride is a piece of cake. My DS 3 wanted to ride it (and would have LOVED IT!!) but measured only 39 7/8" tall :sad2: I know they have these height requirements for a reason, but in this case, it's not to keep a 39" kid from flying off. The ride was great, and NOT intense at all, and it's a shame my son (also a daredevil) couldn't ride it.

No idea why it's 40 inches for Soarin' but I guess it's one of those things to weed out the young kids who might be scared.

For me, Soarin was NOT an easy ride, even though I know I'm in the minority. I should have paid attention to the warnings for people who are afraid of heights to NOT go on the ride. It was torture for me. But my DH and kids loved it!

Thanks for info! I know my son would love it, he is 3 also. It is me I am concerned about, I am not much for watching the screens on rides anymore. I used to love stuff like that!

So if IMAX movies bother me, I guess Soarin' will bother me right? I could ride with my eyes closed, LOL. :confused3

I don't think it as much age as the child. My kids were 8 and 9 last year. My 9 year old did not like it but he has a fear of falling from heights. He doesn't mind Mission Space or RNRRC, but he didn't like Sorin. We also went with my nephews 4 and 5. The 5 year old was terrified but the 4 year old loved it. The 5 year old also has issues with height. So I don't think it has as much to do with age as with the particular child.

He will just love the ride, and its really great that you are checking the ride out, and OK with it. Some mom's would not allow it even if the child is tall enough, they would just consider the age being too young for such a ride, You are GREAT....for considering this for the little guy. Let us know, if it turns out he goes on the ride, how he made out.

I rode with my head turned to the side, eyes closed, crying, and my 14 year-old consoling me the whole time.

I don't do IMAX, either.

I found the ride to be very relaxing and mild- I plan on taking my 3 yr. old on it this fall.

The ride is mild. I am an admitted ride wimp, but I liked it. However, DD4 didn't like it. She didn't like the rising sensation at the very beginning and then kept saying, "Whoa, Whoa!" the whole ride while gripping my fingers so tightly I thought I might lose bloodflow.

I would say if your child like swings and lets you push high, then Soarin is great. If the child is afraid of the sensation of swinging, Soarin probably isn't a good choice.

In May, I sat next to a little guy who LOVED the ride. He could not have been more than 4 and he was a riot. I told him my 11-yr-old and DH had never ridden before, and he told them very sincerely: "Don't be scared guys, it's a piece of cake!" :rotfl: He also helped me buckle my seatbelt.

I don't do IMAX movies because they make me nauseous. I also cannot watch TV shows where it is like you are on a roller coaster. the screen moving and me sitting still is what gets me.

But I can do Soarin, Star tours, as long as the seat moves, I am okay!

Just how high do you actually go on this ride. I don't like heights, however, I can ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I really want to see this but I don't want to spend the entire time crying.

You go up a a bit-not sure how much. Is it 40 feet? I think it gets progessively lower each row.

My 3 year old last October LOVED this ride, we call it the birdie ride (cause you fly like a bird)

She went WHHOOOO the whole time and remembered the sequence of the movie the second time.

We are going in Sept and I asked her how many times she wanted to ride and she said at least 4.
