Soarin' movie question...

That actually could work considering that World Showcase needs less movies about the history of places that no-body cares about while in Disney, and put more attractions.

Hmmm, I'm experiencing numerous emotions related to this comment and none of them are good.

1: you know a lot of people like the big movies and
2: If that's really the way people feel about Disney and Epcot, then perhaps the populous deserves the idiotic management. Perhaps Eisner was right to think Disney fans are "idiots."

That's not intended as a personal attack by the way, Disney management thinks very little of the intelligence of the guest and that kind of comment doesn't really help.

Changing ToT takes close to zero money. Shooting a new Imax film takes a n amount of money substantially different from 0. The 2 don't compare.

I'm with YoHo. Disney has nothing to gain from a film change at this time. Even on slow days FastPasses are gone by mid-day and lines are over an hour by noon. You can't say the same about 5 other attractions in all of WDW.

Why change the film? To drive even MORE people to Soarin?

There are dozens of other attractions that could use a cash infusion moreso than 3-year old Soarin. As much as I'd enjoy a new experience there, it would make more sense in a decade or so after the current ride's popularity begins to wane.

I know you weren't taking a shot at me, but I have to defend myself here. (I am not meaning for this to sound sarcastic or angry and I appologize if it comes across that way) I was basically referring to the one in Norway...how many people have actually stayed to see the movie after riding the Malestrom? I would say, that I have personally witnessed no more than 10-15 people at a time actually staying to watch it (less even, people just blow through the theater to get out). Now, that's my personal experience...I'm obviously not there 24/7 so I wouldn't know what it's like when I'm not there. I have personally never been to the show in Canada because my mom gets motion sickness because of the 360 screen. However, I have never seen many people there...again, my personal experiences that I based that comment off of...it was also a little exaggeration/humor. I love EPCOT, and I enjoy walking through the countries. I just think that people would rather go on a ride than see a movie like that...as I have seen with Norway. I don't think that many people want to get a history lesson about different countries. Yes, I know that the movies show the gorgeous scenery around countries that some may never visit...just my opinion. I love history by the way, but that's the real world...for me at least...Maybe Disney could come up with a way to make a fun ride that shows the history of some countries...kinda like rio del tiempo meets the universe of energy dinosaur thing. I guess that's what I was trying to get across. It's hard for me to me to put my thoughts into words lol...so thats the best I can do for now lol!!

How many times have they changed the one in DCA to re-stimulate it?

But, they don't have to change DCA Soarin', you are flying over where you are..... meanwhile how many tourists are totally clueless as to why Soarin' in Epcot involves all California sights, and why you end up at Disneyland and not the Magic Kingdom. Or do they even realize they are not looking at the Magic Kingdom?
Also, remember, in order to expedite the attraction, they duplicated the DCA film. Now, the attraction is one of the parks most popular, now they have the time to re-shoot the film so regardless of where it starts and where you soar over, you will eventually end at the Magic Kingdom, or even better at Epcot.
I stand by my original prediction, within the next 4 years (but I really think less) the film will be changed/updated.

How about a flyover of the whole WDW? They could do it all at night so they could theoretically show the fireworks from MK, EPCOT and MGM. A close up of the castle would be must, at least for me, because even though you are in EPCOT, the MK was the original park and going over the lights on Main St. is really nice too. Now, they could do that and then have a "landing scene" back at EPCOT. There are a lot of options that they could take advantage of, and I'm sure whatever they do would be great.

Yes, they do. It doesn't matter where I am flying over, it gets old. The repeatability of movie attractions are low. I will agree with you that they took the easy way out for Epcot's, that is unfortunate for the guests who go there. The best predictor of future behavior is to look at past behavior.

How many times have they changed the movie for Star Tours?

How many times have they changed the movie for HISTA?

ITTBAB?

Chances are, they are not changing the Epcot's Soarin' for quite some time was the point of my post.

Any desire to expedite the attraction didn't have much to do with it. Disney was just too cheap to produce a new film. They're still cheap.

Note how many years some of the original World Showcase films have endured.

1. Do you think Disney is responsible for the countries films? I don't think they are.
2. They changed/updated China's last year.
3. I have heard that Canada's update has been filmed.

Yes, they are responsible for the films. They won't update until someone pays. You find someone t pay for a new Soarin film, you got a new film.
