Soarin' is OVERRATED

Wife and I did it our first time this year...we loved it...went back twice!

I usually don't like simulator rides but I enjoyed Soarin'. I agree though that I would not ride it without a fastpass or less than a 20 minute wait. 2 Hours for any ride is crazy.

When we were there in Dec '05, after viewing the DVD many times, Soarin' was the attraction that DD6 was looking forward to the most. The day we arrived we headed straight to Epcot rode TT then headed for the Land - there were no FP left and the standby line was 60 min. We explained to DD that the wait was 1 hour - a very long time to stand in line - she still really wanted to go on. We told her that if we waited she would have to be very good and very patient and she would have to help keep dd4 happy or we would leave the line. The entire time we were in line she did not complain once and she kept her sister busy.

We had the perfect placement on the ride - front row, center section. When we got off of the ride DD had the biggest smile on her face and proclaimed it one of the best rides she had ever been on and it was worth waiting for.

Any ride that an adventurous 6 year old will wait an hour for can't be all that bad! (the rest of the family loved it too - we rode it three more times that trip!)

Cheers-

We loved Soarin'. We especially liked the smell of oranges, and everytime we ride I feel a need to lift my feet when we get close to the river.

DH and I rode it back in January. I really enjoyed it and DH would agree with the OP. He said that he does not have the need to ride it again. I can't wait to take DD on it in December.

We love love love it!! We rode it 5 times the last time we were there in May. We can't wait until we go again in December to ride it more. Our DD, who is 6, loves it as well.

Soarin' is a great attraction...................at California Adventure. the WDW version doesn't even hold a candle to the original. The ride vehicles do not move anywhere near as mcuh, the wind and smell effects are MUCH lighter, and the queue area is SO lacking the proper theming that the ride deserves. Even on our trip last August, cast members were saying how the ride was rushed to opening for the 50th avviversary, and for months there were tons of technical problems that forced a lot of closings.

Wife and I are leaving tomorrow for WDW for 10 days, and Soarin' will only be done via a FastPass. It was a shame that the ride was not done 1/2 as well as it's California counterpart.

Oh my goodness, I adore Soarin, but I would never wait in more than a 10 minute line for it or any other ride. Been there, done that! pirate: pirate: pirate:

My problem with Soarin' is that it's only a good ride for one third of the riders. Why Disney would spend millions of dollars designing a ride that two-thirds of the riders get to see feet dangling above them (hence completely ruining the illusion), is beyond me. The ride should have been designd so everyone got the same view.

strange, I was on the DCA version in May after riding the WDW version in April and didn't notice any difference :confused3

My ds and dh felt the same way. My dd and I loved it. We had fastpasses, if we had to wait in line we may of felt different.

I've only been to the one in California Adventure.....it wasn't open at Epcot yet when I was there last. I am assuming the two are the same, though, correct? I loved it when I rode it at California Adventure. Looking forward to riding it again at Epcot when we go in December!

Perhaps it is appreciated even more by those who have been to/lived in/are from California? We were living in Northern CA, in the wine country area, at the time, so we really loved the part where you soar over the vineyards....yuuuummmmm.......wine! ;)

I'm sorry you didn't like it. This was my families favorite ride. Too cool for words, and I HATE heights. Totally awsome and the CM was a total trip. He said he could hear me laughing and said he just had to give me a hug because he knew how nervous I was before the ride. He said people like me made his job worth it. That made me feel really really good. The ride was AWSOME.

I love Soarin!! We were there in March and got seats on the front row.. My favorite part was going over the orange groves and then you smelled oranges.. :cloud9:

We're heading back next weekend and this is on my must do list..

I went on Soarin' for the first time this past Saturday and boy was I disappointed. If it weren't for the fact that I had a FP and only wait 15 mins I would probably thrown a fit when it was over.

Don't you think throwing a fit just because you did not enjoy a ride would have been a little over the top? Anyhow to each his own, we absolutely LOVE Soarin'.

We have in our city the IMAX theatre in the planetarium, so Soarin was just ok, I don`'t think I would ride it again. :surfweb:

We love, love, love this ride! It just makes me feel so happy and relaxed, a great all around experience. I even took a group of high school students to WDW in June, and I didn't expect them to care much for Soarin'. At that age, they're mostly into thrill stuff. I was wrong, though. They all really, really enjoyed it and wanted to do it again. I think it's a really incredible ride.

I disagree also.

my family loved soaring :cheer2: :cheer2:

but then again we only waited 20 minutes in line with fast pass
so maybe if I waited over 2 hours I woud be disappointed

but then again. I would never enjoy any ride I had to wait over 2 hours for

I have to disagree. We would never do it without a fastpass though. (Not because of the ride, what I mean is that you have to be crazy to wait on a two hour line for anything.) I rode it in Caluifornia Adventure a few years ago, and I think it works better there because you are in California and on Disney property. It would be better with a Florida movie, but it is still great.

We also rode it twice at California Adventure and it worked better there; however, we liked it at Epcot too. We have been to Soarin about 6 times and have never waited more than 5 minutes (we only go during low seasons). Although we love the ride, we would NEVER wait for more than 20 minutes for any ride. Low seasons, fastpass or don't ride!

It is true Disney, sort of low key, great theming, put-you-right-in-the-middle-of-it. A great attraction for sure. :thumbsup2
