Soarin' is OVERRATED

I went on Soarin' for the first time this past Saturday and boy was I disappointed. If it weren't for the fact that I had a FP and only wait 15 mins I would probably thrown a fit when it was over. I cannot believe there are people who will wait 2.5+ hrs for this.

You will then ask why I did not like it. Well, it is just unimpressive. The actual movie is no different than a normal IMAX theatre and the "effects" of feeling like you are flying, i.e. the air blowing, slight movement, smells are pathetic. Lastly, the movie itself was poorly edited. I found it annoying that you jump from place to place to place without any rhyme, reason, or transition. I cannot imagine the feelings someone would have after waiting over 2 hrs for that...

Initially, what even drew me to want to do this ride in the first place was the technology of the ride mechanism, but I got to see/hear more about that on the Travel and History channel than actually in Soarin'.

I guess I can say now that I have ridden it, and now have formed my own opinion and I know others have their opinions. On the next trip, I will save my time for another round of MS or TT.

I agree, its an ok ride but it has been hyped up way too much. It is not a bad ride but it is far from being the best.

We liked it but didn't love, definitely would not wait for hours to ride it again.

I enjoyed it, but was disappointed. I think if the feet weren't dangling above me, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

It was our first time to Disney and that day we were at Epcot it poured!!! So besides that we did get the fast pass... There is no way i'd spend so much time waiting for that. Your crazy, so anyways, the ride was AMAZING... We all loved it, and i'm talking from ages 35 to 5... All of us loved it... So I'd say get the fast pass and try the ride. It was a great experiences... Have a great time!!!

The very first IMAX movie I ever saw blew me away. The ones I've seen since have never matched it, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Soarin' and I've ridden it many times at DCA. Still, I wouldn't wait in line for more than 15 minutes for any ride. But I do love it and plan on fastpassing it many times over Labor Day weekend when I finally get to ride the Epcot one :)

I think it does help though being familiar with the territory. I lived in LA for seven years. Every time I ride Soarin' my eyes start tearing up from the beauty. California is simply amazing.

We also LOVE this one...it is a must do for us each trip. :thumbsup2

We like thrill rides and shows not to many we don't like at Disney. We love soarin. We have not stood in line for any ride for more then 20.min since the fast passes and we ride all day. I don't know that I would enjoy any ride I had to wait an hour for. Even before the fast pass DH knew how to work the parks so we never stood in line long.

dm and i loved saorin'. its magical to be able to 'fly' over the places like that. except for a few, it is not intended for the thrill ride junkie.

The feet didn't bother us. All that was up there behind em was sky. So we looked in a downward direction. Try concentrating toward t he very bottom of the screen from the 3rd row in the river scene. Weeeeeee!!!! The cuts really didn't bother us. We weren't there to see a cinematic masterpiece. We were there to see the scenes and ride the ride.

It was cool. Best ride in Epcot.

Wow! I totally disagree! My family was blown away by it ( no pun intended) ! :sunny:

Ditto. It's one of our favorites.

But you should always do the FP because the standby line is always longer than what is posted.

I don't agree I found this ride very enjoyable although I would not wait in line 2+ hours for any ride or show. I have never used a fast pass and never have waited no more then 20 to 30 min for any ride. Most of the time it was only 10-15 min. I just watch the lines before I enter. They need more rides like this IMHO

The first time I rode we did Baby swap. DH and I went on and got first row. It was awesome. We couldn't stop smiling.

Then Dstep daughter rode and got third row. When she got off she was like "It was okay, but I don't know what you two are so excited about."

A few days later we rode again and DstepD got the front row. She said "Oh, now I get it, your right, that was awesome!"

I think the ride is far superior for riders in row one. Gotta be a way to fix that.

I get a little queasy at IMAX theatres b/c of the "flying" so I guess I should skip this at Disney? I surely don't want to waste precious time waiting in line to see it if it is not worth it and then if I will get sick on it!! :(

Yes, I think so; I've ridden it five time but always from the front row. But, then again, because I've never ridden it from the other rows I may not be aware that they also their charms.

It's one of our favorites. Beautifully filmed, presented as a fully immersive experience and set to a stunning musical track. We just saw it again yesterday and remembered how much we love it.

It is one of our favourites too as well as our DS#1's one of three favourite rides in Epcot (along with El Rio de Tiempo and Living with the Land) - having said that, I would not wait more than 30 minutes to experience this attraction (being lucky enough to be able to go more than once to WDW)

Cheers

For me, I guess the ride was pretty good, but it was the hype before it that did it in. It just wasn't all that. Although a good Disney ride (which makes it great anywhere else), I just didn't think it was one of Disney's best. But that is just my opinion.
