Soarin' for 4 year old?

Is it dark in Soarin? My 4 year old loves "thrill rides", but freaks out in darkness. Last year she cried all the way through the Nemo ride (still talks about the shark.. and when we talk about our upcoming trip she says "I don't have to go on that Nemo ride, do I?), and had to leave the Muppet 3D movie. However, she loves drops and coasters. Would Soarin be too much for her??

Also - we are traveling with my parents. They don't do rides, but would like to try Soarin. Can we stand in line with them, and then do the baby swap where they would stay behind with our kids as DH and I ride, and then they go on it? This would save us time as opposed to DH and I standing in line while mom and dad sit somewhere with our kids, and then having them get in line after. I just want to make sure this isn't considered taking advantage of the baby swap system.

Soarin is only dark for about 2 seconds at the beginning when the chairs lift before the movie starts playing. I think she would be Ok if you explain that.

You can't do baby swap the way you described at Soarin'. They would have to wait with the kids while you ride and then they would go back through the FP line. Soarin' takes FOREVER to do a childswap!

Yes, as the pp said, when you do a child swap on Soarin', one parent or group has to go through the line and then the 2nd parent has to use the FP line and it can take a while since you have to wait for the next "flight", and it also depends on how long the FP line is. Even though they do usually seat those folks first, I've been in some pretty long FP lines. The whole group can get FP's and come back later and then do FP instead of standby on the first time through, and that would make it shorter.

Why would you take her if she was scared? Isn't that why they have the child swap thing?
My ds didn't want to do Splash a second time on one trip, but we talked him into doing it again this last trip, and he loved it. Kids can "get over" their fears. I personally think it's not a bad idea to encourage them to try something again. As they get older and mature, their ideas about what is scary can change too. jmho.

My dd was 4yo our last trip and went on Soarin'. The only thing she did not like was the fireworks, but she doesn't like fireworks AT ALL! So she will not do that again! She rode everything else and LOVED IT! We had to ride Splash mountain and BTMRR about a million times!LOL She also LOVE test track! If I asked her right now what her favorite ride was she would say test track!:thumbsup2 She is afraid of the dark, so we did not do ToT, although I know she would love the actual ride part!

We went when my DS was almost 4 and my DN was 3, and they both loved it. My DN gets scared pretty easily, but he loved Soarin. I think she'll be fine.

My older DD LOVED Soarin when she was 4. We rode it 4 times in a week and it's the 1st thing she wants to ride when we go in June. I'm hoping my younger DD will be tall enough by then. She'll be almost 3.
