I believe the problem here is twofold. Disney purports that it is THE premier theme park experience, yet since I have owned a DVC contract bought in 2011, I have seen a huge decline in the experience. That is 4 short years. The new fantasyland expansion took a ridiculous 3 years to complete, yet the contender down the block managed to open new rides AND lands - multiples at that - in that timeframe. Additionally, Universal is not resting on their laurels, continuing to expand their parks. Sure, Disney is building the Avatar expansion, yet it'll take another two years before its completed. Universal seemed to open the new Potter land in record time. HS is barely a two hour park at the moment. Sure, additions are coming - in another three years. The additional issue is the fact that Disney execs continue to tell the media they spent 1 billion on the magic band technology - and that it's designed to get guests to spend more. That's like slapping a sunburned face. So they have rolled out this technology aimed at hearding folks around to lame rides while they have all but gutted HS, causing even more traffic to force their way into MK due to limited options. Poor planning? Absolutely. At this point, they are more interested in spending more at Shanghai and less about improving the U.S. parks because they know people will continue to go.
