Soarin-4 hour wait today!

Wow. When I saw a few days ago it had a 2 hour wait I was like no way. But 4 hours! That's insane and it's not even a new ride. This concerns me for our April trip. With the Frozen ride still under construction and Soarin closed I guess we will be lucky if we get on Test Track once with a FP+

We were looking at the wait times today from here in NJ and it said a 240 minute wait for Soarin. I was telling my kids they don't know how lucky they are to go to WDW at slow times, they didn't believe that it was that long. Has anyone here on the boards waited 4 hours for a ride, any ride? I just can't imagine it. I almost find it hard to believe that people would wait that long. Does Disney exaggerate the waits sometimes?

Dang. We typically go during the school season, but we were thinking of doing WDW this time next year (approx. 1st-2nd week of summer vacation). Seems like maybe that's not as good an idea as I'd hoped. Is it typically this much worse summer vs non-summer?

No. We switched from late April/early May to June last year, and while the difference was noticeable, it wasn't anywhere near that dramatic. With FP+ and good touring practices (rope drop, etc.), you can still ride everything you want. Granted, you might not get to ride Space Mountain 4-5 times in one day, but you'll still be able to ride it.

Almost got me... Until I saw one post about 'Soarin shutting down on Sunday for upgrades.. then I checked the dates and thought.. DUH.. its DEC.. we were there! we rode Soarin.. fast pass...

I click on them for fun, or if I'm curious. I just make a habit of checking the post date first thing (that's the tiny date at the bottom of the first post in the thread), and it's all good. Even very old threads can be fun, sometimes!

Good grief. I can't imagine making the decision to join that fiasco. The longest line i've ever waited in was TSM when it first opened and they ran out of FP. I think that line was posted at 2 hours, but we waited maybe 1 hour and a half. Still, too long. Then once I waited with some friends who had never been to Disney before for PPF in MK. It was about 1 hour and a half as well.

No way I'm taking up 4 hours of my park day for one ride.

(I know this is a zombie thread - just replying to the original question, though).

As a teenager, my family took a cross-country trip and spent a day at Disneyland. It was incredibly crowded and almost nothing had remotely reasonable wait times. But, I had one ride, and one ride only, that I was determined to ride - Star Tours. It was very very new at the time, and I was a huge Star Wars fan. I waited in line for that for 3.5 hours (so, almost, but not quite, 4 hours...). My parents kept trying to get me to do something else with a shorter line (I didn't know the length when I got in), and did other stuff with my sister, but I was determined to do that ride. I really did enjoy the ride (and the queue), but that was most of the day for me.

My day at Disneyland consisted of that ride, plus some time on Tom Sawyer Island (because there was not really a line), lunch at some counter service place, and one other ride that I can't even remember right now. That's it. Needless to say, I was not impressed with Disneyland at all (though I really did like the ride, and was glad I had done it), and that day was one of the low points of our whole trip. I can't imagine that folks standing in a 3+ hour line are going to be leaving with positive feelings about WDW.

I know that this is a zombie thread, but I read a report in the last few days that they are only using 2 of the 3 Soarin theaters right now. Any ideas why that would be the case?

In Florida? DCA only has 2 theaters.

All three were open and the wait time was absolutely amazing. No more then any hour, fifteen minutes and that was when it first opened and the line extended clear out of the building. All the other reported times were 25 to 60 minutes.

There is nothing at WDW worth a 4 hour wait....seriously, how could you get a kid to wait that long without having to go to the bathroom?

I have been in the parks for the past six days and so far what I have experienced is that 80% of the attractions have had less waiting them posted. For example on Thursday the old Soarin was posted having anywhere from 100-110 minute waits from 1-4 PM. We went on the attraction three times and each time we went in standby the line started at the next to last tv screen before you make the turn right down the hall. The longest we waited was 50 minutes.

The rides that seemed to have longer waits then posted were Splash Mountain, Kilamajro Safaris. Thunder Mountain and Haunted Mansion.

Late night hours at MK was having Mine Train posted at 60 min but we got on it in 30.
