Sniffling, sneezing and a headache. Might be starting something here.

Except for new school shoes, DS is all set for next year. I need to get the shoes before Chinese New Year. CNY is 23 Jan.

You all set for the return of the family and work next week?

Nope...still need to sort through stuff and find homes for everything.
I always have the issue of when things come home to roost they never seem to fit in wardrobes etc. Plus I have two new pairs of shoes to fit in....
sigh...

Just saw this in case it is of interest...

Description

The spectacular Myer Mural Hall at Myer Melbourne will be open to the public on Saturday 7 January 2012. Customers will be free to wander around the hall and view the murals at their leisure.

For 71 years hundreds upon thousands of Australian shoppers and international tourists have marvelled at the murals located in the Myer Mural Hall of our Melbourne store, but few know the story behind the murals.

The murals’ creator artist Napier Waller was born in country Victoria and lived in Melbourne for most of his life.

Following the loss of his arm while serving in the First World War, Waller spent time in England having to learn how to remaster the arts of sketching and painting, using his left arm.

As a testament to the artist’s strength and determination he was able to re-learn his craft and he returned to Melbourne having overcome a major obstacle.

His ability to create beautiful public works that concentrated on medieval subjects and classical themes led to the artist being commissioned to create art which could be enjoyed by the general public.

Sidney Myer, the founder of the then Myer Emporium commissioned the artist to create the murals, which act as a tribute to women and their achievements throughout history.

The huge Myer murals took approximately one year to complete and were painted at Waller’s studio at Fairy Hills in Ivanhoe and then transported to the Mural Hall in Melbourne.

The ten murals which line the 150 foot long, 60 foot wide, and 24 foot high hall are a celebration of influential figures in the areas of art, history, opera, literature, dance and fashion.

Sidney Myer did not live to see the works as they were competed only a few months after his death in 1935.

It's of interest to me but I'm not sure I'm going to convince either DH nor DS to go.

I can't remember in Asia. In Oz, not so much.

Planning ahead? Oh yeah....we turned a new year! But yes, he's all set for this year too.

Speaking of CNY...

Starbucks in Asia are the BEST!!! From the food offerings to everything else...

This is what Hong Kong are going to have for the New Year...

My DS is a dragon. Sadly, we won't be in Hong Kong for CNY. And I'm pretty sure that by the time we get to HKDL, all the CNY stuff will be gone...particularly the dragon ones. :sad1:

Just watching TV for about 15more mins then I'll go to bed...
Hoping not to be woken by a crash bang opera tonight...storm was spectacular...

I'd look...
They might still have some of the stuff.
You never know.

My parents are dragons as is shushh...
Lots of dragons around and all VERY different characters :scratchin

I bought the dog starbucks of ebay a while ago and didn't cost too much and they did actually bring the rat to Australia...
So you could check ours??? Maybe just maybe?

Just Dog? Or did you want me to look for DBF as well?

So....if I find dog references in DL or Starbucks or anywhere else...you'd be happy?
I've seen my TR friend come back with a jade set of all the animals...and they are the size you'd put on a charm bracelet or a little bit bigger.

Oh I wasn't asking for anything???

I was just saying you can track things down on ebay if you don't see it...

I don't think you'll find anything at Starbucks for anything other than the dragon. The Bearista bears are released specific to that time.

I have a Chinese symbol metal necklace for dog I got at that 'garden/museum' thing in Melbourne. A jade set of animals would be lovely but I HONESTLY am not asking for anything.

DBF is (appropriately) a Monkey

I'm definitely under the weather tonight and I have fuzzy eyes, mind and am not thinking straight.

So...is that you don't want anything but I should look for myself or is that...if I see Rat and Monkey things I should think about getting it for you?

I'm going with Option 1...but I'm just double checking incase I am completely off the planet tonight.

You're definitely not all here....or there....

I'm a dog and DBF is a monkey. The rat I just got because it was on sale at a local store after CNY. :lmao:

I'm just saying look for stuff for YOU or DS...you never know what you might find.

This is the Dog and Rat...I might look for a Monkey myself on ebay...

Yes, I'll be looking for me, DH and DS. I'll scratch the DOG and MONKEY off the list. :thumbsup2
