So You Think You Can Dance Season 6

I can see where not everyone would connect with Ellinore. She is not the traditional pretty girl dancing pretty. But of course, Mollee WAS the traditional pretty girl dancing pretty and now she's out (so that shows how much I know.)

Some of y'all are harsh.

Ashleigh did not break any rules and the amount of--hope--in that her injury is worse is...downright disheartening especially this time of year.

I guess I don't get it--and for that reason, I am sort of hoping she rocks it. It's one thing to wish someone out...entirely different to wish them injured and out.:confused3

I enjoy Elanores work when she is partnered (well except that horrendous hip hop that nappytabs choreographed :scared1:).

Her solos were way to quirky--the kind of quirky that gets you a ticket, but too quirky in the top 10. I have noticed her solos have been getting less quirky and look more "new york dance trained"--I don't know how to explain it. But they are appearing more like that of a professional dancer. I did not connect to her quirkiness and I'm betting a lot of folks may not have either. I think she dances beautifully which is more important than being a pretty girl IMHO.

Actually, I think Eleanore is really beautiful (the best lips ever!) but just not in the blonde hair Barbie doll way.

I don't want Ashleigh injured...I just don't think she is the 3rd best/favorite girl.

I think Mollee should be 3rd. I'm ok with Ashleigh being 4th. I think she was stronger than Noelle.

Ashleigh really benefited from Jacob in the beginning while Mollee was hurt by Nathan.

I also think Ellenore is beautiful and I usually get quirky. I'm just not getting her. I know she is good. She is probably the best girl but she always seems the same to me. I don't think she does characters well. She certainly didn't sell herself as a hip hopper and she's missed the mark on ballroom too. I think she did broadway but I've forgotten it so I guess she didn't sell that either.

I feel like I am the only one rooting for Ryan and Ashleigh on this board... which seems so odd to me! It seems like they are the most hated dancers this season but yet why are they still getting all these phantom votes?

I voted for them... but I know it wasn't JUST my votes that saved them this week. So I am curious... Where are all the Ryan/Ashleigh fans??? Hello?? Anyone out there in hiding?

While I am sad to see Mollee go... I don't think it would have been that interesting to see 3 contemporary girl dancers in the finale. I think they are all magnificent dancers but doesn't it seem like they are all trying to be like Ellenore in the solos? I know they've been critisized for doing too many leaps and spins and acrobatics... but I LOVE seeing that. Quirkiness is fun too but it starts to get tedious when everyone is trying to be quirky.

We voted for Ryan and Katherine in our household. :thumbsup2 We really like Legacy too, but Ryan has been outstanding the last few weeks and we felt he deserved some votes. I didn't like him at all at first, but he grew on me! Ashleigh has grown on me too, but I think Katherine and Ellenore are exceptional. I think that is going to be one awesome group to see live. I might have to set some money aside for the tour!

unfortunately no...

We voted for Ryan in our household.

so you 2 are to blame for this lamppost making it through! the boy can't dance - what he does do is make his partner look fantastic. both by being a great partner - he's strong so lifts look great and he stands there well while the woman does all the hard stuff around him and by allowing the woman's technical superiority shine through.

I want someone to win who shines in a variety of styles outside their own - and wows me with solos in their own style. Ryan does neither. This is not solely because he is a ballroom dancer, other ballroom/partner dancers have made it to the top 4 in almost every season - because they belonged there.

Ashley is a decent dancer, although NOT a favorite of mine, and has done well in a variety of styles - but at this point if you can't dance you don't deserve to move on. I know this isn't her fault - it conformed to "the rules" but the rules need to be changed.

It can't possibly be just us though?! Right? There must be some others out there?

Oh and don't get me wrong. I love the married couple... But they are not going to win.

Russell will win. No question about it.

You know, I was put off by Ryan at first because of his shirtlessness, I don't dig the shiny chest look, but my opinion is that he did some amazing routines. That being said I don't think the 5 or 10 votes we through his way pushed him to the top 6, I'm just sayin'. ;) But he is one talented lamppost.

And I agree with Leggy, I don't think he or Ashleigh will win. I'm really hoping Katherine wins. I could watch her dance all day.

I'm sure it's not just you.... ;)

I think you are right about Russell winning - the fabulous male contemporary dancer of the season almost always comes in 2nd. If not 2nd, then even lower.

Let's face it, the couples are rigged, as are the routines they "draw".
I guess I'm in the minority as far as being glad to see Legacy go. My husband and I feel that the "draw" has definitely been rigged in his favor, at least for the last three weeks or so. The judges keep talking about how he is a B-boy and he's being thrown into these contemporary and hip-hop routines that are not in his style. But let's face it, the choreographers keep incorporating the break dancing moves that he does so well into those routines for him. I can't even remember the last time he did a ballroom routine. I don't think there would be any way that you could work a headstand into a smooth waltz! I'm not a big Ryan fan either, but I think he will go next week anyway.

I felt so sorry for Mollee! Especially when Adam Shankman kept going on and on about Kathryn after Mollee had just learned that she had been eliminated. Talk about pouring salt into a wound!

I really feel that Ashleigh got the sympathy vote, pure and simple.

I think there are lots of people in the ballroom community voting for A&R. I'm sure they'd love to see ballroom dancers win the competition. Frankly, I've had as much ballroom as I can stand after watching DWTS for years.

Ryan is good in ballroom, but stinks in anything outside of his specialty. I do think Ashleigh has done a much better job but as someone else mentioned, she can thank Jakob for that.

Did anyone else feel that Nigel doomed Mollie when he told her to go to Broadway? I almost felt like the was dismissing her from the show. I thought right then she'd be in trouble, but I really didn't expect her to go home (and I do think she'd be fantastic on Broadway).

Does anyone remember how Noelle was injured when she was partnered with Russell? I love Russell so I'm not picking on him, but this is his second partner to be injured. I wonder if he's holding them/doing something improperly and causing them to be injured?

Really? I'm curious which you liked so much. I'm not picking on you, I promise! I loved Kayla last season and no one here seemed to like her at all, so I understand. I'm just genuinely curious which routines you thought were outstanding.

I think you could make your argument for many of the dancers. How many times have we seen a jete (is that right?? cabanafrau, missy??) thrown in for Jakob? Ellenore's had a lot of quirky routines. Of course the choreographers will showcase the talents of their dancers. Legacy does things no one else can. It's entertainment and I'll watch him any day over Ryan.

I don't care for Ryan much, but I can't say he's only done a stinky job. Early on he had some really good effort in some contemporary routines. I kind of have to laugh at the description of him just being a partner, doing lifts and having his partner dance around him -- that's ironically one of my huge issues w/ Ashleigh.

Yes, it gets a bit boring when they keep throwing in Legacy's b-boy skills into every type of number. I'd have to concede Ellenore's quirky tendencies have been thrown in for her & Jakob's leaps have been used whenever possible. However the judges have given Ellenore flack about the quirky & Jakob received feedback about his leaps showing up in every routine. I don't think they even blinked about Legacy's moves showing up in every routine.

I enjoyed Legacy tremendously despite the fact I was bitter about him making top 20 at first. I'd have preferred Ryan get cut before him, but I can understand the voting. I haven't enjoyed Mollee's presence very much at all until top ten time. She did an outstanding job. I still cannot wrap my brain around the fact she went home & a dancer who didn't perform remains.

As much as I've enjoyed watching Legacy & Russell, I really like to watch the show as objectively as I can, so the imbalance in judges' comments really annoy me. I actually don't think Ellenore or Mollee were designated as contemporary specialists, I believe they were designated as jazz specialists. For most people watching that's splitting hairs. But when the judges continually praise both Russell & Legacy for their hip hop skills, which are not their specialty, I think fair is fair. IMO Krump & B-Boy are much more kissing cousins to hip hop than jazz is to contemporary.

I thought the same thing! But I didn't want to be picked on by Russell lovers... I like Russell, and like I mentioned before, he is the clear winner in this competition with Jakob being the runner up.

What surprised me is that the judges didn't mention anything about that. I mean, he was praised for doing so well with only one days notice with a new partner over and over again. Yet, what if he did do something (not on purpose) to contribute to the injurie(s)?

Interesting idea. It is probably not great for the health of the ladies to be partnered by guys who have never partnered before and who have a very short time to learn how. It's the nature of the show, but haven't there been more girls injured than guys?

I really liked the routines that Ryan did with Ellanor and Katherine. Especially the 'Razzle Dazzle' routine a couple of weeks ago and the cha cha with Katherine. Once again, I in no way think the dude should win the competition. He merely succeeded in entertaining me, which I was plesantly surprised by.
And I thought Kayla was awesome last season too! I thought she would win until she made that comment about always getting what she wants. I knew that would lose her some voters.

I didn't watch the show until recently. I tried once years ago and didn't care for it, and now I can't imagine why. Anyway, one of the things I've had to concede with the show is that the performance and personalities of the dancers seems to be as important, sometimes possibly more important, than the actual dancing.

I admit I've liked Legacy all along, but he is a performer as well as a good dancer. The only time I remember him struggling was in ballroom. The waltz, maybe? Otherwise, he's exceeded expectations. Sometimes he's suffered at the hands of the choreography (Tues night) but I think he's always done well.

I know you're much more experienced in dance than me, but I'll have to continue to disagree about Ryan not doing well outside of ballroom :D. I really liked Ryan at first. However he has disappointed, IMO. As strong as he appears to be, and as experienced as he is in partnering, he seemed to struggle on some of the lifts. To me, he comes across as more of an accessory to his partner. I don't find him exciting as a dancer or performer. Out of the guys left, he's received the most "negative" critiques from the judges. I didn't care for him in the disco Tues night. The cha cha was spectacular, as well as the Argentine tango. Those are the only 2 dances that stand out for me. I don't remember Ryan ever holding my attention in a dance. My eye always goes to his partner. The other guys have, and in particular Jakob. I have a hard time remembering to watch his partner when he's on stage.

I do agree that there is a huge imbalance in the judges comments. They're certainly meant to influence voters. It's definitely interesting to see how everyone views the dances and comments differently.

I certainly don't think he's doing anything on purpose, but I do think there could be an issue with his inexperience in partnering.

I've been quite the opposite of a Ryan fan all along, but like I said, I do try to objectively watch & let each dancer prove to me what they can do. I agree he should have left sooner, but I have to be honest & say he has had some good moments. That said, IMO he must go no higher than 5th place. I can live w/ him remaining when Legacy leaves, but logically can't believe he can in any way beat out either Russell or Jakob.

As for knowing about dance, don't let my high powered career in the entertainment industry fool you. My credentials consist of being a dance mom(roadie) for more than a decade now & spending more time than I care to remember at competitions, quite often bored out of my skull. I've just really enjoyed this thread a lot because it is fun to get feedback other than what I do from my DD's, dancers I know & my dance mom friends whose opinions are framed from many of the same influences as mine. It's kind of neat to try to open your mind & see if you can view what others see.
