So why is Disney making so many cuts?

To be fair, I don't know if I've every heard A-V say anything positive about Iger.

The best thing you can say about Iger is that he does not consider himself some half-assed architect, interior designer, chef or Imaginneer.

But I think that made Eisner better than Iger, by a hair...At least he cared enough about these 'Disney' issues to think he was capable of leading them with his oft misguided ideas. Iger makes no bones about his 'couldn't care less' attitude. With Eisner at least one of 10 or 20 things might end up good, we will pretty much just strike out with Iger, won't we?

No doubt that Iger is worse just because he lacks any real talent on any subject. I don't think that anything Eisner did was becuase he "cared". The only thing he seemed to care about was his Ego and that drove him. Not becuase he really wanted to make a better theme park than Universal or build a great Hotel.

Oh Mr. Pirate – don’t you know how much trouble you could have gotten in with a hair joke around Eisner!

Iger escape the great purges because he wasn’t a threat to anyone. That along should tell you about how unburdened by talent he is. He was the guy that thought four nights of ‘Millionaire’ would keep his once-in-two-decades stint as America’s top network going strong. This is the guy who now thinks making a show from about television commercial cavemen will be successful because he can sell it for $1.99 to people with fashionable cell phones.

In short – the man really doesn’t know what he’s doing and it’s served the people around him very well during the years. Do you really think Jay Rasulo would today be running theme parks after Disney Studios Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland and ‘The Year of Yes, It’s STILL Going On” if a qualified CEO was running the company?

What Eisner did he did out of ego. For a limited time, he merged his ego with “Disney” and tried to service both. It’s very easy to look good when you’re backed up by 80,000 talented, hard working people. But soon anyone who insisted they should share in the credit we forced out, leaving Eisner all alone to really run the company by himself. And look at that disaster.

It’s impossible to say who’s “worse” at the moment. But they are making Card Walker look like a genius.

Vast majority of the public thinks that WDW = MK. You can not equate "value" to recognition. They are different components of marketing. The popularity contest winner will always go to MK by default just because of the 30 year head start, similarity to the park in Anaheim that started it all, AND its got the castle.

Who said anything about value being equal to recognition? That's your idea.

The value proposition is a part of marketing, yes, but the perceived value is decided on by the consumer.

Seriously, are you trying to suggest that the public does not believe that MK is a better value than MGM, or that DL is a better value than DCA?

You can talk all you want about how each resort is a single value proposition, but in the end it still comes down to what the consumer values, whether you look at it by individual component or on the whole.

You don't need to explain to me what Disney's intent was when they started building 1/2 day parks. I know full well what they were trying to do. The fact that it was there intent is where the problem lies.

So Mr. Voice it appears we are actually very near being on the same page if not the same word!:cool1:

Thanks for the humorus and accurate diatribe, I loved it!:thumbsup2

But, if the other three parks, and the two water parks, and the resorts were not there, in addition to the Magic Kingdom, I would not be going there every year, no matter what it was priced at.

So, when I consider the value of WDW, which I have to say has declined, I consider the entire resort. Because, I go to WDW for the entire resort. Not just for one park. And, as much as I love the MK, and it is my favorite park by far, I would not pay $72.00 to spend the day there. Nor, would I DL.
