I don't know how the Magical Extra Hours will work out this year, but generally speaking, the MK is open an extra three hours on the 30th. We stayed at MK until 3 am the morning of the 31st. We went back to the room and slept in. After my parents met up with us in the evening, we went to dinner and then to MK for an hour to watch the 8 o'clock fireworks. After that, we went back to SSR for the festivities. So for you NYE veterans, what do you usually do leading up to the nighttime festivities?
We were thinking about visiting MK on the 30th, having a resort/down day on the 31st (to conserve energy for the night), and head over to MGM and Osborne Lights on the 1st.

I just booked Delta Airlines for our New Years 2007/2008 trip. Non-Stop out of Little Rock, AR for $280.00 RT pp (all taxes/fees included) for 6 passengers. Thought that was too good to pass up, and didn't think Southwest would be able to beat it (plus they have a layover on all of their routes out of LR). Don't know if there is a promotion going on, but it was significantly cheaper than any other airline right now. Hadn't planned on buying tickets this early, but was afraid not to snag it.I guess we'll be having a DIS get together that night too then. How many are going now? 7-8 families?
Have to keep our eyes open for cheap flights. I've got my calendar set to look in on SWA August 1. (Hmmm, my aunt works for them. I wonder if she'll have any insider tracks.)
Around here Southwest can't be beat going to orlando, non-stop. I just hate the waiting game to book the airfare.
Hey, I'll be there May 6-20. (At SSR 13-20). I'll leave the light on for ya.![]()
I prefer Southwest for another reason. They are great at transporting power wheelchairs. You're allowed to board first (so I always get that first row seat) and you can drive your chair right up to and sometimes on the plane. Then they take it down below for stowing and return it to you for deboarding. Nonstop is my preferred flight choice for this process as well.
It'll be the first time we've flown and used Magical Express. We usually drive or use the autotrain. Have to break my packrat habits and travel lighter.
Oh come on, try harder!
Remember:
- It's too big and spread out.
- You'll be stuck in the Paddocks or Carousel section right next to the road where it sounds like you're next to the Interstate.
- The food sucks. (flatbread? cardboard with cheese)
- Um, there's mold under the sinks (I read it in a complaint thread so it MUST be true for all the rooms)
- The busses are overcrowded with DTD revelers. And they only run once an hour.
- It's such a poor resort (and Disney knows it) they don't even have their OWN refillable mugs! They just use EPCOT or any old secondhand mug. Yeah, they're probably used mugs guests at better resorts discarded on the way. And not washed either.
